U.S. medical care improves overall

  1. The quality of American medical care appears to be getting better, based on a study of how often physicians and hospitals do the right thing when facing important treatment decisions. The state-by-state sampling of treatment provided to Medicare patients found that on average, physicians did better on 20 of 22 measures of quality in 2000-2001 than they did two years earlier in a similar study.
