GALVESTON -- A series of embarrassing revelations led officials at the University of Texas Medical Branch to shut down the Willed Body Program on Tuesday, acknowledging that it is riddled with problems.
The program's suspension comes in the wake of the latest disclosure -- that body parts carrying infectious, and even fatal, viruses could have been accidentally sent to dozens of research facilities across the nation.
