Standoff forcing California to cease funding to hundreds of providers

With no resolution in sight, the longest state budget standoff in Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's tenure is alarming hundreds of organizations that provide healthcare throughout Southern California. For the hundreds of small, community-based providers throughout the region, the impasse is more than an inconvenience. It's a financial crisis.

How can they in good conscience go on vacation when they haven't finished the budget? Doesn't the governor have the power to make them stay until they finish hashing it out? Ridiculous, to say the least.
