The RESPECT Act and What it Means for ALL Nurses

We make decisions and perform clinical supervision on behalf of our patients.
NOT on behalf of the employer. This is why nurses are the most trusted occupation.

Unfortunately all too often the best interest of our patient is in contradition to the profit motive of our employer.

I would like to thank you for the attention that you are trying to bring to this issue and would like to share my story and why the respect act is important to all nurses.
I was a charge nurse and was fired based on the Kentucky river/Oakwood decision for my association with a union. My employeer changed my designation to manager after they became aware of my association with the NNOC. I became involved with them due to many safety issues that were not being delt with on my unit. There is no real help out there and it is up to nurses to advocate for the safety of their patients and the growth and security of their license.

I was not a manager and had no authority of a manager but am a vocal advocate for my patients and my profession.

I read your story, and it is infuriating. I too, have worked for an HCA facility, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life.

I am sorry that corporate America did this to you, and continues to make nurses and nursing unsafe, and at times, miserable.
