Obama delays major part of health law

WASHINGTON (AP) - In a major concession to business groups, the Obama administration Tuesday unexpectedly announced a one-year delay, until after the 2014 elections, in a central requirement of the new health care law that many companies provide coverage for their workers or face fines....

...Under the health law, companies with 50 or more workers must provide affordable coverage to their full-time employees or risk a series of escalating tax penalties if just one worker ends up getting government-subsidized insurance. It has become quite apparent that (yes,) He can, as has been done already. Is it constitutional? Pffft! That does not matter, as long as enough folks follow and believe all this stuff.

That's pretty basic civics class kind of stuff. This is how all laws at all levels work; the law defines the big picture and parameters, it's then up to regulatory agencies, departments, etc to fill in the details. The Treasury department changing the timeline is well within it's constitutional limits and this sort of thing happens with every law since the beginning of our country (and actually predates our founding).

Why would such a utopian effort to achieve nirvana be delayed until after the 2014 elections?

I agree that there is nothing utopian about the ACA. You seem to have put some thought into this, so how would reform healthcare?

Labor unions, however, are generally to the left.

Go ask any Walmart worker- they will tell you how the "part time employee" game is played. And it is starting to happen to health care workers as well.

Read the article. The story is what the union leaders are saying. Forbes being right wing only is a factor in that they are more likely to report it than some other publications.

Being "right wing" has nothing to do with the reporting of facts, journalistic integrity does, something that is very short supply in our "news" sources.
