This is interesting stuff. Does anyone know how much of this is being put into practice? As a student nurse, who intends on purseuing a APRN (CNM) in the future; I wish there was more clear, reliable information available as to what the changes will be in the coming years. Maybe it is still evolving?

I wonder what will this residency look like and who will be supervising it? I have often thought that the CPM training practice of having an apprentice period was a great one. While it seems like a hassle, this proposed residency might have the same benefit as an "apprenticeship".

Looking forward to other's thoughts.

Thanks for the link. I have a lot of friends trying to decide what to do about grad school. Some already have MSN's but don't have the "right" majors to qualify for certain certifications and roles. They are trying to figure out whether they should take a couple of classes to be eligible for other roles, etc. Should they pursue a DNP? etc.

I think it's all a mess right now and will take a few years to "shake out."

Of course, now that I have my MSN a new level and education will be needed.

This must be the draft for the final document released last year by the APRN Consensus Work Group and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing: http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Education/pdf/APRNReport.pdf

I think this is definitely what advanced practice nursing needs in order to push our agenda to the future. So much confusion exist regarding our roles, our educational preparation, our certification requirements, etc.
