Nurses Activism
Published Jun 29, 2001
I became a member only a few days ago (June 26, 2001). The first time I checked out these bulletin boards, I read a poem that really captured the nursing shortage and its effects on us, the nurses. It was written by a nurse from Canada and was called "I Apologize in Advance". The nurse was apologizing for all the things she was unable to do for her patients because of what she needed to do for others. I didn't bookmark it and now I'm spending a lot of time trying to find it again. If anyone out there can help me, I'd be forever grateful.

hi janfrn, if you go to the website http://www.nflpn.org on the left hand side you'll see"online discussion" click that then scroll down to"click here to enter online discussion," read down to a nurses poem-"i'm sorry in advance." you'll find the entire poem. that should help you if you haven't found it already. ~night owl~ :)

Janfrn,
I believe that poem was posted in our general nursing discussion area also, which unfortunately is temporarily down right now. It should be back soon. Once it is back up, you could do a search and you should be able to find it easily.
Good Luck!

Thanks to all of you who replied to my post about the poem. I now have a copy of it to post on the bulletin board at work and I just know that there will be many of my colleagues who will hear their own voices when they read it. I just hate it when I leave work feeling like there were a dozen things I didn't do...
