The union representing nurses in contract negotiations at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo reached a tentative agreement on Saturday with hospital management, averting a one-day strike planned for July 17.
Chuck Idelson, a spokesman for the California Nurses Association, said the tentative pact must be ratified with a vote by members on Tuesday. At issue for the nurses at Sutter Solano, and several other Bay Area hospitals negotiating nursing contracts, are salaries and retirement and health benefits.
Negotiations continue at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where the threat of a July 17 strike stands. CNA represents about 350 nurses at Eden.
Tentative agreements also have been reached at St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco and at Alta Bates-Summit Medical Center in Berkeley and Oakland.
