I am a 43 year old female RN w/familial high frequency hearing loss. I work in an acute care setting. There are certain sounds, particularly in my work environment, that I cannot hear or have trouble with so I have decided it's time to invest in hearing aids.
I was really excited to trial the Lyric hearing aids, but found that I could not tolerate my stethoscope ear pieces in my ears with them in place. I was told by my audiologist that I would then require bilateral BTE hearing aids for my particular hearing loss. I have been trying out "top of the line" $6500/pair Oticon hearing aids. I generally like them, but am having trouble with my stethoscope, a Littman Cardiology II. I have been removing the hearing aids to do my assessments, but I am afraid I will lose them and that's also a hassle.
Can anyone suggest a good stethoscope for use w/BTE hearing aids? Anything you tried that really didn't work?
