I took care of a patient about 9 months ago. I never gave him my last name and it is not on our badges. He gave me his phone number while I was his nurse and I promptly threw it away and never gave it another thought. About 8 months after his discharge, he friend requested me on Facebook. I have no idea how he got my last name, and I was pretty creeped out by it. I blocked him and made my profile completely private (most of it was anyway, except for my college and city I lived in). He is also now unable to friend request me even if he makes up another profile. Hopefully that will be the end of that.

you could at least have told him that you are not interested. I know that, when I find a woman interested, i´ll do anything to find her. I will ask my friends, try to find her online etc. Havn´t you ever been interested in a guy where you have done everything to find him? The worst thing that can happen is that you would get a rejection. No big deal, but at least you gave it a try.

I dont know how many times I have got a good connection with girls and then forgot to ask them for their phone numbers.

While I worked in the ED it seemed that I would regularly get marriage proposals! But these prospective "grooms" all had one thing in common. They all were drunk and smelled like a goat! It got to be a running gag at work, to the point that I had tape rings on my stethoscope for the number of "proposals" I had gotten. Obviously none were serious prospects, and it wasn't until a good while later under much better circumstances that I met my future husband. Ironically, he has nothing to do with the medical profession, but his father does!

I could only be so lucky to be hit on by my female patients lol....hey, everyone needs a little ego boost now and then right?....

That kind of persistence would be flattering to a woman who was interested in you, and creepy/stalkerish to a woman who was not. Such is the human condition.

admittedly, i lost count on how many proposals i have received over the years. unquestionably, the last one kicked the bucket, i was making my rounds, when one of my staff nurses needed help with a pt. so i gave her a hand by taking her new admission. having said that, after i made sure that the pt. was well taken care of and all orders done and signed, the pt. proceeded to ask me out  which i kindly decline in a humorous way. needless to say, the pt. was at infectious diseases unit. people don't ever cease to surprise me

I too received several marriage proposals. The most memorable belonged to a man that had broken almost all the bones in his legs when he got the bright idea to stand on top of his trailer during a tornado. I cared for him for about a week with no problems. During the second week he proclaimed his love for me. I politely told him that I viewed our relationship as strictly professional and that would not change after he was discharged. He was adamant that I was his angel and that we would be wed. I requested to no longer be his nurse.

This is where it got really weird. On multiple occasions he would roll himself off the bed and crawl on his forearms towards the nursing station to profess his love to me. Luckily his doctor caught him on one occasion and decided if he could do that feat he was well enough to be in a sub acute setting. He was quickly discharged. As he was rolling by on the gurney with the ambulance crew he proclaimed to me and the rest of the floor that he would walk back in here and ask for my hand.

I'm still waiting.

I hate a 20 something female pt say how "yummy" I smelled and tried to get her sister to come smell me. She also said she wanted to take me out after all this. her sister had to remind her that her husband might not approve lol.

On many occasions I have cared for a particular older man who is mostly sweet but sometimes a little grumpy. He happens to have a wife who drives him & everyone around her insane w/ her endless questions, useless advice, & general annoying habits. Anyhow, one night after she finally left the hospital, he told me he wished I could crawl in the bed w/ him. I honestly just laughed & said I couldn't do such a thing. Instead I sat in the chair by his bed & let him tell me a little about his life & family. Afterwards he thanked me profusely.

I have noticed that just about all the pts who've ever "hit on me," proposed marriage, etc have all been older men, many of whom have nagging wives. These I never find threatening. However, once or twice I've had a younger or middle-aged pt say something a little out of line but thankfully I've never had a pt try to touch me or anything like that.

I was never a young nurse. So when I was hit on it was always by the old guys. It really doesn't happen much now because alas, I am an old gal.:)

But remembering makes me smile. The old guys were gallant and smooth. A generational difference in how they treat women. I was married, happily, and so the banter was harmless.

They all were drunk and smelled like a goat!
That's the new axe for men goat body spray.
