I highly recommend office nursing, I'm in a clinic and work approx 9-4 five days a week, no weekends or holidays ever.

GI lab. M-F. First shift starts at 6:30 am- 3:00 PM, closing shift at 8 am-closing (usually between 3:30 and 5 PM). The lab is open one Saturday a month, but working it is voluntary. Call is one week once a month. It's associated with a major health system so pay is comparable to hospital pay. No holidays

I've only been able to find clinic jobs since getting my RN license! I've worked Mon-Fri 8-4:30 the past 2 years, no weekends or holidays (including state holidays, which fortunately Hawaii has about 17!). It's nice for the most part, but I wanted to be a nurse to only work 3 days a week :( Oh, the irony.

I like having days off during the week and try to avoid working more than 2 days in a row if I can help it!

I just went casual after 22 years of nursing and suddenly got tired of weekends, holidays and nights! I work 3 days per week(8 hr shifts) and choose to work no holidays or weekends. I did work a Sat today (my choice) and still do shifts but never before 7a and no later than 2315. I also do a little home health admin(no scrubs or hands on nursing) about 1/2 day every other week. And I wonder why I see my kids more and my attitude has improved!

I recently left my 24 hour/week every 3rd weekend med/surg/telemetry position for a school nurse job - 8am to 3pm, 5 days a week. No holidays, no weekends, all summer of with my children. Long holidays off. When I thought about stepping down from the chaos and adrenaline of the cardiac floor, I was concerned. Then someone told me that I wouldn't miss it. You know what? She was right. I love my new job, love the normalcy and routine it affords my life. And you know what - every day is different from the next and I still have days full of adrenaline (I've called 911 twice and it's only October). I leave my house at 7:50am and am sitting at my desk by 8:05am. I leave my desk by 2:59pm and am home with my children by 3:10pm. I drive them to all their afternoon activities, make dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and tuck them into bed. Hubby and I get a few hours together to unwind before the next day.

God is good. Leaving bedside nursing and the crappy hours/schedule was the best decision I ever made for myself and my family.

I work 8 to 1700 - no nights or weekends. I got the job with 3 years experience.

Unquestionably, I payed my dues over the years in my nursing career, therefore, my schedule is Mon.-Friday 9-4pm no weekends no holidays. Needless to say, I love it, however, it didn't happened over night one has to keep eyes & ears pealed for bigger and better things...after all we are WORTH IT!!!!.... Aloha~

I work regular workday hours in acute care at a hospital, with no weekends or holidays. Most days, I'm out before 1700. And yes, it's actual patient care, not management or administration.

Eventually I want to go back to working evenings (I am NOT a morning person), but life won't let me just yet.

I am working my first job as an LVN Mon-Fri 8-230 at a school district. I love it even though it isnt full time hours because I have a young son to take care of. With this job I am lucky that my parents keep him. Once hes old enough to start school I would like a full time job hopefully with a 4 on 2 off schedule :)

I have done the staff nurse thing. Loved working nights and didn't really care about working weekends and holidays. Of course, I was much younger, single, and childless then.

Now, I'm a Nurse Educator in an academic setting. Other than my teaching duties (class and clinical), plus required office hours (5 per week)....I make my own schedule. Off for a month between semesters and since I don't teach a summer session....well, let's just say I have a prolonged break before the start of a new school year.

The downside: I did have to go to school for a long time (still am) to get this job.
