Don't give up

  1. I just read a post about someone wanting to give up on nursing. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO. There is so much you can do as a nurse. There are even careers that havent been created yet. Who would have thought 20 years ago that people would make money videotaping their life and putting it on social media? That goes to show the opportunities are endless. If you started your first nursing job and immediately thought "this isnt for me" that is okay. Try another nursing job. You can work in a hospital, at a home, at your home, in a school, on a boat. People are turning their nursing platform into entrepreneurships. You can too! And I can't wait until you do because I know it will be great!

So finish that class, wait out that year on tge waiting list, tolerate that crazy coworker because it is all preparing you for something great!

Sorry for the long post I just felt inspired.

People are all different. Goals, interests and desires also change as we age and experience life. I agree that quitting before you've given it a real shot, or quitting because of a temporary inconvenience like an annoying co-worker could be a missed opportunity. It also could be the straw that breaks the camel's back in an otherwise unrewarding profession. Nursing may be a great career path for some and a miserable one for others. As you said, opportunities inside and outside of nursing are endless. And life is short. All the more reason not to waste time and money on classes, jobs and a career that you don't believe will bring satisfaction.

Thanks for the response! I agree. It is important not to waste money on school if you dont really have a passion for your degree.
