What is the procedure to end probation?

Nurses Recovery

Published

My license has been "On Probation" since October 2008. I worked in Drug Safety before a dialysis clinic hired me in August 2009. I have been compliant with the terms and conditions of my contract with the Disciplinary Monitoring Unit. I have been attending 3 NA/AA meetings a week, as well as two professional support meetings a month. I have also participated in First Lab's random drug screening program (I am drug tested twice a month). All my drug screens have been negative. I also see an Addiction Doctor once every 2 months.

I truly do not want to spend even one more day in this program. I made a serious mistake and I have paid dearly for it. But I am a very different person today; much happier and at peace with myself and my world. My probation should be up on October 31st, 2011.

I do not have much faith in my DMU Case Manager, who handles a caseload of 450 impaired nurses. I do not believe that somehow, she will realize that my probation is ending soon, and that she will then begin the necessary steps to remove the words "On Probation" from my nurses's license.

I am not even sure what those steps are, and exactly who would be ultimately resonsible to taking me off probation and placing the words "Active" on my licesne.

Any suggesions?
