Transferring to Florida IPN from Alabama

Nurses Recovery

Published

I was busted in May of 2013 for diverting. I completed treatment and began monitoring through Alabama's VDAP program in September of 2013. My contract here in Alabama is only for 2 years. I am a nurse practitioner and one of the stipulations was that I could not work as a NP for 1 year which will be up next month. I also had a key restriction for 6 months which has now been lifted.

My husband has been offered a job in West Palm Beach that we are seriously considering! I was wondering if anyone could give me some information about transferring to the Florida IPN program? The VDAP program here is like the IPN program in Florida as it is voluntary disipline which will be wiped from your record if successfully completed.

From what I have read the IPN contracts are usually for 5 years. That is usually the case here as well, but praise the lord mine was only 2. I do not want Florida to extent it to 5 though!

Anyone in the West palm beach area know the best places to look for jobs?

TIA

Hi, I know this is an old post, but would you mind telling me how your experience was transferring to Florida's IPN? I am moving to the Orlando area from Oklahoma. I am in Oklahoma's equivalent of the IPN and I am also moving to Florida for my husbands job. I am just curious how difficult was it to get licensed there and how long until you were accepted into the IPN program. I hope everything has gone well for you...

Thanks in advance.
