TPAPN, changing jobs, help please

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hi everyone. I am currently one year into my contract and have been working in a psych facility in the DFW area. I am seriously wanting to change jobs. I know my options are limited.. I have thought about dialysis. I am actually so bummed. I miss the acute care side of my career. I want to be back in ICU. Does anyone know if places like Kindred would hire a TPAPN nurse? I know I don't have a chance with the bigger hospitals being in TPAPN.

I feel like I am ruining my career and losing my skills, if they aren't already lost. Can anyone give me tips? Has anyone changed jobs while in TPAPN after your 12 months of continuous employment is up? I really appreciate any help.

I would think very hard before changing jobs- -and I certainly would not quit till I had another job lined up. Also many job offers fall through once they find out your in monitoring program or once HR gets involved.

I know you are bummed to be out of your desired speciality- but I see many many nurses on here that can't get hired into any nursing job. They are forced to work menial jobs for fraction of the paycheck. I think some perspective here may change your mindset.

This was very good advice. I did need some perspective. Thank you.

Hey Ash,

Have you ever thought about moving to a smaller city like Lubbock? They might be more understanding and willing to hire?

No worries, I often need to remind myself how great I have it compared to others :)
