Narcotics Restrictions

Nurses Recovery

Published

Okay, I have a pretty straight forward question here. I am wondering when a nurse knows that she will have a narcotic restriction, and/or not be allowed to work the night shift?

I know that the board offers a consent order that outlines probation, but part of this does require a psych eval within 60 days. Is the eval what determines the restriction or would the consent order outline restrictions from day one? Or is all this part of the recovering nurse programs and not required unless you are in the RNP?

Thanks

Every state handles this whole issue in their own unique way, so it's difficult to answer your question with any accuracy. Generally speaking, if you've been reported to the BON, they will perform an investigation that may take several months. If they've already ordered you to have an evaluation, the report will be used to help make decisions regarding how they will proceed. If you've been reported for diversion there is a 99.7% chance you will have restrictions on your license. What they are and how long they last can only be answered by the board.

Did you try Dialysis? Or something entrepreneurial that you could do easily like babysitting at a low cost or something....
