Infractions While on Probation

Nurses Recovery

Published

I am currently working as an RN. Shortly after being licensed I was a complete idiot and managed to get 3 DUIs (I know, I know). I have avoided any trouble whatsoever for the last 6 years and am currently 6 months away from completing my probation. I live in a very large city with ample public transportation so I have not bothered to get my driver's license back as I don't feel like spending the money to take the required classes. Last week I drove a friend's car (I know). While I didn't break any (other) laws, the car had a brake light that was not working and I was pulled over for this. While the cop wasn't too concerned about the brake light and didn't even bother with a fix it ticket, I was not off the hook as I was driving on a suspended license. I know this was all quite stupid of me so I don't really want that lecture, but my concern now is what will happen with my RN license. As this is a misdemeanor and I will likely spend a few days in jail, I have to report this to the BRN. As my license is currently on probation I wonder what action they are likely to take?

Oh boy. I hope they leave you alone. This offense has zero to do with nursing but is related to the DUIs. I don't know this for sure but I'm willing to be that in my state they would probably (wrongly) stick their noses in and expand on your punishment. I wish you luck
