I'm back!

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hello all! I can not believe it's been over a year since I posted anything. So glad to be back and that the same folks (and welcome to all the new) are here!

Things have been good- 2 1/2 years sober now, still working full time in public health (still not nursing), and have applied, interviewed, and awaiting a call back from a stellar job. Learned how to play the guitar, became an equal right activist, peed in many a cup in front of many a person, filled out 7 quarterly reports, and am now a hiking enthusiast. 3 1/2 years of my contract left and so far so good!

It only took reading about 6 posts to realize how much I missed this site!

You remind me of ME! Except when I just entered my BON compliance program & began recovery, I never posted. I accessed allnurses to read EVERY available post & comment in the Recovery section to motivate me while beginning this long 5 year compliance program. I guess the correct word for me was "lurker"!

On a boring day a few months ago, I reconnected with allnurses. After spending a few weeks "lurking" around the Recovery site, I read a post & thought, " Hey, I have some knowledge & insight into this question".

Posted my first response & the lightbulb in my head flipped on. I'm 2 1/2 years into recovery, compliance, etc. Why not use MY experience to help and motivate others? If I have a question, instead of thinking about all the possible outcomes & scenarios endlessly, why do I just ASK?? Ask people who have actually "been there" and understand, without judgement of my past??

Love this site! My name is "KyBeagle" and I am an addict but NOT a lurker!!!
