Compact License?

Nurses Recovery

Published

Okay, so I have some anxiety issues and I'm finishing up TPAPN (should be done in September). In about a year my husband and I plan to move back to NC. I don't know how the compact license really works, but I have one and NC is covered under that license. I will of course be looking for a job in NC and would prefer to not breathe a word about my TPAPN participation.

Today it occurred to me that the NC BON might contact the TX BON in the process of verifying my license and be told about TPAPN. I'm unsure if successful participation in TPAPN wipes that off your record or not. I have no stipulations or restrictions on my license. If you look me up on the TX BON everything looks clean.

I'm essentially freaking out that I might need to complete the NC version of TPAPN or that they would tell potential employers in the process of my obtaining a NC license. Does anyone have experience moving to another state after successfully completing a program like TPAPN?

I wanted to do a follow up to this post now that it's 2017. I moved to NC and submitted my application for a NC nurse's license a year ago. All that was required of me was to give permission for the BON in NC to contact TPAPN and the BON in TX. I also sent my completion letter for TPAPN to the NC BON. My successful participation in TPAPN was no issue and I got a NC nurse's license within a month with no stipulations or other issues. I was later told that because I referred myself to TPAPN, completed it successfully, and had no actions against my license (thank God!) I didn't really have to report my participation to NC. In the application when they ask you about issues with your previous license, they mean probation, stipulations, board hearings, etc... My participation in TPAPN is protected health information apparently. I wanted to be safe anyway though and it didn't appear to be any kind of bar to my getting a NC license.
