Re: Prayers thoughts check-ins re Gustav
Our family lives in West Monroe, La, so got just some of the wind and rain, fallout and such. Big tree , or what used to be a big tree in the front yard. Thank God it didn't hit the house, if it had fallen the other direction, it would have landed on top of out bed in our bedroom. (Kind of not so funny humor, so please forgive me. My dh was in our bathroom, "indisposed", after we ate a little too much Chinese takeout for supper. I was propped up on some pillows on our bed, as usual, on the allnurses.com website. I heard a rather loud crashing noiser, and got worried that the dh was in there long enough his legs fell asleep or something. I got to the BR door, and he made it to the door at the same time, thinking I had fallen. We both looked at each other and said at the same time..."The tree...!"
Got to the front door, and oh, yeah! There was the tree, right on top of my rose bushes and flower beds. I guess that was God's way of telling me I don't have a very green thumb!! Jokingly, of course!
The tree remnants were too heavy for me to move, but when my dh went to work the next am, I got moved what I could. I always keep a fully stocked "disaster kit", or the like after Katrina and Rita. So at least I knew what to keep on hand. I had a battery operated tv/radio, and we had bought a generator after Katrina. Both my parents and aunts, ect. were all living in Washinmgton parish when Katrina was forming, but they got up here before it was too late.
Got my disaster box restocked and now awaiting maybe Hanna, Ike, or Josephine! Hope everyone and their families are ok.
Anne, RNC
