Just got an email from Christus Health that they need volunteers for 36 hours to be in San Antonio tomorrow, then to be bused to the costal areas and assist with evacuation of patients. Seems like it is going to hit the Texas coast, or at least they think there is a high probablility of that happening. If anybody is interested in doing this volunteer thing, let me know and I'll get you a copy of the email-I can't do it with such short notice.

Models show it now coming towards Freeport, which is essentially a direct hit on Houston.

My hospital is prepared to activate external disaster mode staffing in the next 24 hours.

My prayers for you guys. Hope they do get plenty of volunteers! And also that though you would be in disaster mode you would get plenty of help and relief!

God bless you all!

While living in the north. I always to use have in my trunk. Extra blanket, snow boots, ski suit ( jacket and snow pants) shovel, kitty litter , and a candle.

Down here ,, hmmmm I think I need water wings in the trunk. All kidding aside. We are having some of the outward rain bands in our area, There has been some minor flooding of our roads. If the outer bands are causing this in our area. I can only imagine what it will be like once it hits mainland somewhere in our country.

Please keep us posted on if there are any other opportunities to help. You know, in national emergencies, they should have some way of sending notifications to all the RNs in the forum about opportunities to help. All of you who are in the hurricanes path, stay safe.. and remember, material things cannot replace a life.
