Well, I hope the worst is over! We didn't get too much damage, just trees and such. And I am really surprised we didn't lose power. I took some pics of some of the damage and posted them on the break room, in case anyone was curious. The only injury on our street - my rose bushes won't ever be the same! One big surprise was a huge tree that was uprooted and landed right on top of a minivan. He walked away without a scratch. Amazing!!

We have 3 dogs, 1 inside weinie dog, and 2 yard dogs. The outside dogs have tried to convert themselves into inside dogs also. Don't even want to go outside to potty eithout an umbrella. Talk about ROTTEN, but they are my babies!!

I'm from New Orleans, 70124 to be exact (we were flooded by the infamous 17th street canal during Katrina)

We evacuated to Alexandria, LA.

A neighbor a block over from me stayed in NOLA with backup generators and said we had power as of this morning but just called (approx 1/2 hr ago) and said we lost power again. I tried to call my landline and the answering machine didn't pick up so thats a sign we have no electricity.

We were planning on coming home tomorrow, but with knowledge that we have no power.. it's pointless.

I live in Northeast Louisiana, we are still getting the rain and wind. Some people are having to sand bag their houses and I saw one vehicle with a tree on top of it. But if flooding is all we get it will be a blessing. We haven't had running water all day, there is a busted main line somewhere and there is too much flooding for them to find it. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those from south Louisiana and the other areas Gustav hit.

Hello everyone,
I live in Slidell, La and evacuated to Birmingham on Sun. I am back now and staying in a hotel in Picayune because I still do not have power, I live in a remote area on the bayou.
Thanks to all who posted concerns, said prayers etc.
Ya'll are wonderful, you helped me so much after Katrina and I don't know what I would have done without this website.
I will return to work tonight. Our pts were evacuted to Bogalusa, La on Fri. (LTAC). They are back in Slidell now, so its time to go back. I am very ready to return.
Don't know how long without power at my house. They are working very hard to get it on.
Picayune is about 30 miles outside Slidell. I lived here after Katrina, in a trailer for 2 years. Moved in my current home last year.
I am so glad that it was not worse. I think God was listening to you, thanks again.
Will keep you updated.

Hello grandee! I am glad you and yours are doing ok. We live in West Monroe, La. That's wild, your patients getting evacuated to Bogalusa. All of my relatives live there. You just never even hear anyone talk about Bogalusa, much less that someone even knows where it is!

We will keep you and your family in our prayers. I haven't heard how much effect we will get from Hanna, Ike, or Jospehine. I try to keep stocked a big "hurricaine, or disaster box", with essentials for me and the dh, and 2 sons, along with the doggies. I started that around the time of Katrina, and I guess it's kind of my security blanket. I'm a little OCD, andf he laughs a little, but in cases like this, it really pays off!

Good luck to you and the family. Hope you don't have to work too hard, and all the patients did ok with the move.

Hey All, My first post so here goes!! I am located in Mobile, AL spared by Gustov Thank God now I have a generator that will take a year to pay for. It's a must on the coast though.

New Orleans faired well all Travelers from what I hear have been sent home from areas with no power which is mainly Baton Rouge area. They are begging for more power trucks. The heat is nearly unbarable, you have to live on the coast to know how unpredictable these storms are. The command center was set up in Baton Rouge because they were thought to be spared. Mother Nature likes to play with the mind!! Power could be out for weeks. Mobile is full of evacuees just like with Katrina, just hoping the criminal element didn't stay here this go around, Katrina victims brought alot of criminals out of New Orleans. Anywho I'm suppose to travel to Louisiana next week for a travel assignment and I personally am praying for A/C and water. There is alot of damage my Brother is a Ins adjuster and will be in LA Friday to start inspecting the damage it is widespread. So many people were left uninsured after Katrina so pray for them!

south louisiana here. gustav uprooted most of the trees on the road i live on. along with part of my roof. i now have mold growing on my ceiling. i got power back late last night and it is a good thing because gas to run the generator is like finding a needle in a haystack! i evacuated with my family some are elderly and some ill. i felt i needed to be with them. now that we are back (i had took a leave from work) iam going back to work to releave my fellow nurses. it is very hard to work and take care of all the crap gustav left behind for us to deal with but i think god never gives us more than we can handle. i hope everybody else down here is ok as well. also thanks to all who sent your prayers and thoughts.
