yeah, we're packing all of our important documents, and photos, and most of our clothes. My car has decided to misfire, so I'll be getting a rental tomorrow, and having the dealership tow the car Friday morning.

I also plan, on going to Saint Rose to gas up, getting a new gps from Sears, because TomTom's screen doesn't want to be touched anymore; and of course going to the grocery store, before all they have left is expired canned tuna.

We have no idea where we'll be headed though. Baton Rouge, Alexandria, and Shreveport are all booked solid, and I hate driving long distances, but we shall see.

We're headed to Jackson, MS. Reservation is already made and we're packing up the sentimental stuff and the necessities now and waiting until we have a better idea of where the storm's headed before we acutally leave. Keeping my fingers crossed that it takes a different path... at least they have it forecasted at a cat 2 now. Best of luck to everyone in the same situation - this will be my first evacuation if it happens and I'm really scared!

I will be keeping everyone in my prayers. My family will be coming to Minnesota if the storm gets really bad and staying in BR in the meantime. I hope it doesn't touch down, it's very scary, like Katrina all over again. But the city of new orleans sounds very prepared and organized this time around...BE SAFE!!!

Right. Alex is out of room unless you have a reservation and most motels are not taking reservations. Only, "walk-ins". Everyone please stay safe.

My dd is leaving for Galveston Saturday, then Jamaica for 10 days...

Well, I'm in NO and i'll be trapped at work since we're all considered "essential personnel." Really sucks for me cuz I was scheduled off for 9 days for vacation, and now my plans are shot. Still praying this thing will turn or just plain go away. Wishful thinking, I know. Everybody stay safe. Boo hurricane Gustav!!!

I really feel for everyone who was impacted by Katrina and is now having to contend with what looks like is going to be the certain landfall of another major hurricaine near New Orleans:

I would hope that your hospital would be evacuated and NOONE would be considered so emergant that they have to remain behind. Can't they learn from Katrina !!!!!
I certainly would not remain.
