Do you know any nursing(LPN or RN) program that will accept deaf?

Wow! I have not been on here for about 2 years. I thought to get a break from it because of depression. I was in nursing school in Springfield, Missouri, but they dismissed me out of the nursing(RN) program. The reason they kicked me out was because I am deaf even though I passed my clinical and classes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Jessica

Isn't that discrimination? I would contact ADA and get further information! It shouldn't matter if you are deaf or not, you deserve to be a nurse! There are accomodations that are available for you. Sure, you may not be able to use an audio type stethoscope, but they shouldn't have kicked you out. They knew you were deaf when they accepted you into their porogram, so why are they "changing" their minds? I believe that is highly illegal in the US. Contact ADA (American Disabilities Act) (www.ada.gov).

MystyqueOne- I already have 3 lawyers involved. So, we are in processed to sue them. I just want to find any nursing schools that will accept me without going through it again.

Good for you!!!! That's the way to handle it! Are you in Arizona? I'm not sure which state you are in, but I am in Arizona and am HOH (not deaf). I had a meeting with all of the staff and they are very confident I would be an excellent nurse even though I have a hearing disability. If I may ask, what sort of accommodations would you need for stethoscope use or bowel sounds or even codes when working in a hospital? I'm curious for my own self.. What if I can't fully hear the bowel sounds??? What if I don't hear a code from down the hall? Etc... I know that when training for CNA, I had asked the nurse and they said that they may give me a pager of some sort. I wonder....
