Hello, everyone! I've a question about Visa Screen Certificate. I'm a Canadian, and had my RN education in US and passed Nclex recently. Do I have to apply for Visa Screen Certificate if I want to get TN visa to work in US?

Hello Breeze, I'm in the exact same situation as you: Canadian who received BSN in states and I take NCLEX on friday. From reading threads on here everyone seems to say that you do need the Visa Screen Certificate but I just called immigration and the border and asked him multiple times this question. He said that you do not need it. I intend to call several more times and ask different ppl to see if I receive the same information. Let me know if you find out anything different.

this is stated on the cgnfs website that vsc is required for any type of work visa

the following health care professionals who are educated outside the united states and who are seeking temporary or permanent occupational visas or trade nafta (tn) status

cgfns international - global credibility in credentials evaluation

Doesn't matter you are requiring a visa therefore as it stands at the moment you require vsc (this is my understanding and as trained in the US is generally issued very quickly compared to trained outside the US)

The New Jersey BON website does not have a list of required fees for verification of license and forwarding it to CGFNS.. I have been having a really hard time calling and emailing them. No replies on email, only voicemail on phone. My uncle who is in NJ had the chance to call them and they told him that i should just make a letter of request, have it notarized then send it to them, no fees required. It's been a month since I did that move, and up until now no answers. My IELTS expires in 5 days...Now I have to repeat that exam I hope there's someone here who's license had been verified by the NJ BON. I need your help...

In what way? If you have a employer and filed for immigrant visa then it is a case of joining the queue if you have not got a employer then it is a case of finding one willing to wait for several years (currently) for you to get a visa

once I pass NCLEX, in order to apply for the Licence in one of the states in US,do I need CGFNS & vsc? As I know it's not easy to get visa for fresh graduates,I plan to move to Canada, once I receive a Licence here in US, bcuz US licence is a primary requirement to sit for CRNE.I will be graduating BSN by May 2011 from US.
please share your experiences and thouhts please

If you are doing your training in the US then you just need to meet the state requirements, which I believe doesn't include CES because you are US trained. Moving to Canada will still not be a quick move as you still need to apply to a province college of nurses and meet requirements, then find employer etc for work permit or PR

    Silverdragon,
    hi.

    Im still a little confused.

Im a nurse in the Ph and just passed the nclex last august (california). And now Im doing the visa screen. In the occupational visa what should I tick? I understand that h1-c is not advised and still expired since Dec 2009.

And if ever in the future I would like to endorse to another state do I have to redo the visa screen again?

Thank you sooo much for the help.

VSC is valid for 5 years and you do not need to redo vsc when going to another state. Generally you tick immigrant visa unless you are going for a H1b visa. Also remember if you have no license issued then you can't endorse

What I'll never understand is CGFNS's process for the Visascreen. I am Canadian, have a BScN and passed the NCLEX. Why does my education need to be evaluated now? The NCLEX is the test of minimum competency, so clearly my degree prepared me, lol.
