Status of Filipino Nurse applicants in the UK after BREXIT

Hi everyone! Greetings! :) I would like to know what to expect regarding the effect of BREXIT to us (Filipino Nurses who still live in the Philippines and have current job application in the UK). Will the BREXIT has more advantage than disadvantage to hiring Filipino/ foreign health care workers like Nurses from the Philippines? Will it not complicate our job offer from the UK employer? Seems to me that Brexit even made it easier for us Non-EU nurses to achieve the dream of working in the UK. The recent change in the way to obtain the required score is more flexible and attainable by most, so we can expect more applications to come in the coming months.

Who knows if it will be easier or not... It is going to take a few years to get this all sorted and then more years whilst governments decide what to do with lots of things and immigration will b a small part of that decision

You are welcome... Just realise that the UK now will be going through lots of stress at the moment with lots of changes... Know one really knows if this will be a good move for the UK or not

It would be too early to know but seems pros and cons will emerge post Brexit.

English exam was planned to be ratified and this means that even EU nurses are required to take the ielts now. It has been observed for the past years that a language barrier between eu nurses and patients of UK is rampant and this is a way that makes the game fair between us and EU educated nurses.

The IELTS (newly published requirement by the NMC) seems really "rightful" because a nurse applicant outside the UK apparently undergoes a tedious process most especially when one did not achieve the minimum score of 7 on each category. So, that applicant needs to re-sit for IELTS (meaning another payment and another time spent) until that person achieves the required score. Apparently, job application costs an arm and a leg but when we finally made it, everything we've been through is surely.. worhtwhile :)

I have the same query. I am considering other countries where migration seems more linient.

Of course, as an expat, we dream to become a citizen of that foreign country we're going to work for, or maybe at least a PR.

From what I've read is that the new UK PM Theresa May vowed for stricter migration policies, and what is shocking is that the exchange rate of UK pounds to Ph Peso is from Php69 to almost Php60.

No one really knows what happens next. Let me know your status when you get there! :yes:

Hello everyone. What happened to brexit was inevitable although most of us didn't see that coming. From economic point of view we don't know yet what will be the impact of brexit on the economic terms.

As far as overseas nurses are concern, I think it has a positive impact on nurses coming from outside EU,

Why? Mainly because it will create a fair advantage on all nurses regardless of your nationality whether you are coming from within EU or coming from outside EU

Nurses ftom within EU wouldn't have a priority access to labour market as it will go through different screenings as Nurses coming from outside EU. In that sense alone nurses coming Philippines, India, srilanka, and any Asian countries will have a fair competition to any nurses within EU labour market. So in your question, I don't think Brexit would have a negative effect on nurses coming from outside EU.
