I have seen there are a lot of nurses who availed, availing (like me), and contemplating to avail of Philman's packages . . . so i guess a new thread for us is just proper. Hope that everyone can share their experiences with the process to guide everyone. thank you.

Do you realise cost of living here is very high, cost of loan is very high, it has been reported that those who have managed to get jobs are having a hard time trying to have money to live after paying loan repayments.. Sponsorship s are down to a trickle as hospitals are told to consider locals before importing staff.

If you get independent skilled visa for pr. then you are able to apply for any job, his takes time and the Loan needs to start being paid before you can have pr and find a decent job to even pay for it.

So it is up to you, it is not impossible but extremely difficult. Unless you have a little back up money for the first 3-4 months of loan payments, while you you wait for pr visa, waiting around for sponsorship, either way to me, you are really gambling big time.

thank you for your advice, on the positive note this consultancy that im planning to apply with ties up wit a bank so that the interest rate is not that big. however, their professional fees is quite costly...Their package (28,500aud) includes: APHRA, STUDENT VISA, SCHOOL-ETEA WITH 17K AUD TUITION FEE, BRIDGING EXTENSION if ever, PR processing but not sure if the application fees they will cover.... Im really concerned with the cost because the staffs who did the seminar do not provide a concrete answer as to where all the money will go....

There's your answer, no concrete answer.. Then do not do it.

And what the hell.....is ETEA s. fees up to 17,000!!!!! Is this the most expensive school, with the most conditions!!! With AHPRA?

There also is your answer.

so is this worth giving a shot? I've read forums with negative feed backs and positive feed backs about this agency and I am contemplating on whether to try applying here. :( I am currently an ER nurse and will be on my 6th month this december 2013, but as prev mentioned, my rnheals of 1 year can be considered as an experience so in total I have 1 year and up to my current job.

Anyone here who had already applied and became successful in AUS? or could someone enlighten about this agency...

should I even bother considering this agency? I am a person with no sufficient funds, is this a good move for me?? pls help thank you! god bless everyone! :)

Hello! I once contemplated on going to Australia through the help of this agency. I know some colleagues who were successful in finding jobs after the bridging program and they often encourage me by telling me that my work experience is very much better than them that the risk of not landing on a job and not being able to pay Philman is very thin. I really had a hard time deciding, I even inquired in different agencies deploying nurses in Australia who are also offering financial assistance through loans (Philman's loan package is best and more accomodating). In the end I decided not to pursue my Australian dream for now because I cannot risk my family's financial stability ( all agencies I inquired quoted loan interest of almost 100%). Yes, It is possible that I will succeed, actually I was almost certain that I will be able to land a job but it was also possible that I might not. Anyway, I was hired by a hospital in England (FYI: no placement fees were collected). If you have IELTS of 7 in all bands why dont you go this route first, it is very much cheaper and more certain. Then think of Australia in the future. I hope I helped .

That's a very wise decision you made to NOT go with any of these "loan sharks".

Of course, these people will loan others at the very high interest rates because they know that the chances of being paid back 100% of their investment in you (not you in particular) is actually probably very little, but they will make up from others who do pay them back for the next 10 plus years.

You guys need to ask these "friendly lenders", based on your interest rates (ranging from 35% to 100%), what are the repayment amount AND for how long AND ask to see a PRINTOUT of that scheduled amount of said payments and see if that's what you feel comfortable in paying every month for the next several years.

You will see that the amount of "interest" you will pay will range from 3 to 5 times the amount you borrowed!!! It will literally take a lifetime to repay. It's like having a high balance credit card with high interest rate and only paying the minimum.

In light of what I said above, as I have mentioned before I know of a couple of borrowers who could not repaid their loans after the BP due to unable to still find a job.

These lenders no longer become your best friends as they will turn over the collection process to some very nasty people who will not be so nice and kind with constant phone calls all day long, harassing your friends and family to let them know you OWE them the money and where can they find you and send weekly "love letters" to pay up now!

They don't care if you can't find a job after 1 month or 1 year or 2 years after, they WANT their monies now!

Should you fall behind in your payments, the lender can AND will take you to court and win their case against you.

They can then take the court order's and go after your bank accounts and worse of all, they can ask your employer (present or in the future) to pay them some amount from your paycheck (an amount that will be higher than what you would have had to pay if you had been paying on time) every month before you receive your pay, it's called garnishment of wages. It's also an embarrassment that others will know of your financial troubles, even though, you're a nurse.

Guess who else ends up paying the lender's very expensive lawyer fees that filed against you in court? Since you can't pay it in full, they'll add it on to the loan OR can also go after your bank accounts or ask your employer to hold back some of your monthly paycheck to pay them.

Like I said, they are like sharks.

Hello! Can I ask what agency did u apply for that job in England with no placement fee?

thanks in advance

hi!i just want to know if what is the name of the agency you apply for England,as i am having doubt in pursuing my application in philman, thanks!

hey, i'am thinking of going to one of philman's orientations for NZ and Aus. i've read in comments that a certain amt of money is needed to be able to start with the process. does anyone have an idea on how you can avail any programs abroad without the need for cash out? thanx. appreciate an answer. been working as a nurse for 2yrs and now in an admin position. missing the rush of nursing so i'm trying to figure out a way to go back to the field but i really want to do it abroad. thanks again

hi guys im a newbie here, was doing my research about philman then i found this blog. any updates from those who applied? Ive heard they are accepting applicants for New Zealand even without hospital experience. anyone in here planning to go there? It was kinda frustrating to know that the previous applicants had to pay double the amount that they were able to loan.

why, when there is no nursing shortage would NZ take away this requirement? I am afraid you still need 2 years experience as an RN, does not need to be in a hospital though.

Do not take out loans it is so difficult to pay these massive loans off, with cost of living your family will not receive any money from you for the next 10 years if you survive. That's if you find work.
