Out of Province RN reentry program

World Registration

Published

I'm an IEN trying to work my way up through the licensure process in Canada to be an RN. My application was reviewed by CRNNS (Nova Scotia) and they have advised me to take up an RN re-entry program. We relocated to Canada just a few months ago and are put up in Alberta and are not ready for another relocation to NS unless all my paperwork is done and I'm good to start working . I just wonder if anybody on this forum has knowledge or previous experience of, the College of Nursing (CRNNS in my case) allowing applicants to take up Re entry program in their province of choice or do we always have to do them only in the province applied for?.

It would be really helpful if someone could enlighten me on the same and if the other way around is possible please do also let me know, how should I be requesting the CRNNS to allow me to take up the course elsewhere outside of Nova Scotia.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Did you ask CRNNS as they have the final say?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You really need to contact CRNNS. They are usually good at getting back to you. But why not relocate now and use the course as a stepping stone for finding a job. Although we are seeing jobs advertised the unions are heavily involved and jobs must go by seniority and being in the union is a big help. Where in NS where you looking at?

If you moved to Alberta, why did you apply to NS?

Thousands of kilometres apart. Why not apply to CARNA
