Hi! I am a new grad from the Philippines. Just wondering if I need to have a local license from the Philippines to apply for Licensure by examination in Nevada? Thank you for your time.

Hi this is bertus. Can't log in my account so i made a new one. Anyway yes steppybay my theories and clinicals match to the very detail. I worked extra hard for that because during my time there, people I know warned me about the concurrency issue. Also our school has revised their curriculum and works very hard in matching theories with clinicals especially ms/ob. I think I will be ok. The problem is that nevada bon really does require a local board. I called them twice on different days and talked to different people and they both said the same thing " we will not be able to accept your application without a local license" so i sent my cgfns-ces to arizona, where correctional nursing looks more promising. It is where my comfort zone is since i have worked in one as an lvn for 3 years. Wish me luck! All the blessings to my fellow new grads, and my fellow nurses!

Thank you steppybaby! mine is also fix already im just waiting for my TOR. I couldn't take the NLE because it was moved to a earlier date. Im a bit nervous about it so I decided to apply for NCLEX already.

]Joshbert! Thank you for the information. Im also planning to just apply in hawaii and apply for reciprocity to nevada, Do you think they will still look for a local liscence?

It's highly likely as the current trend is to look at what initially qualified you for licensure. Some states think like Canada that if you are not qualified (licensed) in your country of education then why should you be considered qualified any where else? I'm not saying its right or wrong but this is the thought process in many regulatory bodies.

Hi! I also graduated last April 2013 in the Philippines. I am a dual citizen - US and PHL. I've read and heard about the new law in Nevada wherein local license is required. Since I am a fresh a BSN graduate, I do not have a local license yet but I have no plan on taking the PNLE.

However, I still decided to apply in Nevada. I already started my CGFNS process and planning to take TOEFL asap. I also passed my application papers as well then received my fingerprinting forms few days after. My brother, a US citizen, took his NCLEX right after his graduation and passed it first time in California. As far as I remember it was during 2009 so he was lucky that he did not go to the strict and harder application process nowadays especially in California.

He suggested that I still should try in Nevada despite of the new law as do the same thing he did when he applied in California. Wherein, when the BON looks or/and asks for your license, the best way is to send them a letter explaining that you do not plan to work there (PHL) and you are a US citizen. By the way, I have two brothers who have done this and it worked.

The Nevada BON sent another letter to me saying that they are waiting for my CGFNS and TOEFL results. So far, I am going with the flow and plan to give it a shot.

Any suggestions or comments? Does it also make a difference if I just graduated last month?

What does the BON website state? That should indicate Report or exam

I have the same case like @peachikoy109 . She can still proceed in validating her documents and Nevada doesn't have CGFNS exam.

Hi! :) i saw your post at allnurses.com I just want to ask you some few questions about the nclex in nevada :) I graduated last march 2014 in the Philippines and i want to take the nclex in nevada I saw in your post that you are currently applying for nevada :) did you already received your eligibility? How was your application form? Did they require you to take physical assessment and ms because i heard some had concurrency issue and got denied that's why they need to take those subjects :) anyway i'm done with my cgfns-ces report and they say that they are now waiting for my TOR :) i don't think that I need a licensed here in the philippines since i am an american citizen i have my ssn number also, do you think i can get my eligibility? Thank you and hope you answer all my questions :) god bless :)

Every transcript is evaluated based on its own merit, there's no way to tell from this forum or the other 100's of other forums, therefore, until your application is in the processing stage can you get the answer you asked.

As you have read just in this forum, some have gotten their ATT and others have been declined. In any case, as with the other state's BON's any and all application fees submitted is not refundable once the package is opened for review.

That's the only option you have to see if you qualify or not.

Thank you so much for your answer steppybay I'm just a little bit confused cause in our batch(2014) we started the new curriculum and we took the health assessment as different subject so here is my question, is health assessment different from physical assessment? Anyway i'm done with my application form as well as the other requirements they need and it can be sent to the nevada state bon anytime but then again i don't want to waste my money and got denied in the end

Any working RNs now here in Nevada? Where do you work at?
