Need advice with my NMC

Hi guys. So here's the thing...I've gone through processing my NMC and I've sent all the documents that was asked for and now I'm just waiting for my decision letter. But my worry is this, I only got 2168 hours of clinical practice, a few hours short from the required minimum of 2300 hours. What are the chances that I would qualify for the ONP, and what are the chances that I would be rejected? The agency I'm working with told me to just submit the requirements, but I still can't help but be worried because I don't know anyone that I can ask who actually had the same dilemma but was still able to get qualified for the program. Please help. :up:

They will decide on a case to case application. We have had some members say they was accepted and didn't have all the required hours

Personally I think it will be ok :) I remember reading a while back that yes its 2300 hrs, however international nurses could apply with less? I cant remeber exactly, but am almost positive it was less than the hours you have stated, wish you luck x

I had about 1500 hours (traditional American BSN) and that was accepted in 2012, but the NMC seems to change their guidelines every couple of years on what they accept and how they run the process.

To be honest, I would just call the NMC up, ask to talk to a decision officer (not the first person who comes on the phone, they are just reading off a paper and don't really have good information about what really happens), and give him/her your hours and ask point blank what they will do with it. When I applied you needed something like 3,000 hours on the website, but in reality they accepted about half of that.

I've actually did a few research and yes, they say they accept. But I'm still getting my fingers crossed. I wouldn't really know until I get their decision. Thanks for answering. :)

I do hope so. Wouldn't want my time wasted. :D Any news about how the NHS has been doing? Several hospitals have been hiring here in the Philippines and I'm really just waiting for my decision letter to get the ball rolling. :)

Yeah, I've been hearing that the NMC has been very unstable the past years because of the bulk of applicants, as well as the plans to change the guidelines, yet again. I just hope I get my decision soon because I'm really not looking forward to taking any NCLEX-like exam just to be registered in the NMC. I'm actually in contact with Continental Travel Nurse for employment, I've been reading some posts with mixed reviews. I plan on sticking with them, outweighing the good over the bad. I just hope I'm making the right decision by it. :)

Personally I would say the NHS is financially strained! The population is getting older, more patients but not enough funds to cope, I would say there is more jobs in England than Scotland going by what I have read! But the NHS is not the only employer of nurses, there is bupa and obviously nursing homes

Hi che rn im also an applicant from Continental Travelnurse. May i ask how long have u waited for your pack 2? I'm already done with pack 1 and nmc advised me that they already sent my pack 2 last march 31. How long have you waited for that?

My Pack 2 actually took a long time because, being that I'm one lucky girl, the holidays got in the way. From the time I sent my Pack 1, it probably took around 4 months, but if NMC already told you they already sent it, then you'd probably receive it in 2-4 weeks, depending on your postal office. NMC sent mine around January 9 and I got it around the end of January if my memory serves me right.

Yeah, that's something to take into consideration. Anywhere is fine, to be honest. Compared to the situation I'm in now? Any other option would probably do. But if I had a choice, I'd still go for the Hospitals. :)

I have the worries che_RN. My RLE hours is only 2,142 but my friend in Harrow told me that she came across Filipino nurses with less than the required number of hours who now work in the Northwest London NHS Trust. Think positive! God bless.
