I don't know if the rumors were indeed true but try to call AHPRA to confirm everything about the duration of the bridging course.

Rumors have it that AHPRA has indeed abolished the IRON program and instead offers the applicants to take the 1 year program for overseas nurses. This was what I learned from some of my friends who got the advice from AHPRA themselves.

I'm currently doing my placement and will finish soon. It's been a tough ride but I say to you, hang on. Just keep on trying, I'm sure there are several ways how to apply and you might just be in luck,

I just heard this news too. AHPRA will require international students to apply for the 1 year conversion program instead of the 3 months bridging course.

Thank you very much for the quick response guys.

Ive read in the 2nd part of this topic way back 2 years ago, that even if you have 5 or 10 years experience you still need to take the BP to become a registered nurse in Australia. Does this rule still apply? My husband has been working for 2 years in the ICU in thePhil, and 5 years in the CCU in Kuwait, Iam still in page 504 of part 2 of this topic so Ive got a thousand more pages before I can catch-up. Has there been any instances recently where in AHPRA would not require BP for nurses with extensive experience. Hope you can help, BP is just really expensive Thank you very much once again.

Hi. AHPRA will still require international applicants to take the BP even if you have extensive experience in a certain area. However, if an applicant is a USRN and has been working in the US for how many years, and also from UK, Ireland, and some western countries who has the same standards with regards to the healthcare setting, they will be registered even without taking the BP.

Hi everyone! I'd like to ask if the IELTS results are still needed after the bridging program(say for example in job applications). Mine is to expire right after I finish the course. Thanks in advance.

Hi cj. Yes, ielts is needed, even after the BP. Even in the application of working visa.

Does anybody know if AHPRA Canberra is giving an extension.? I got a slot at ETEA for Sept 4 its the same day of the expiration[/quote']

Hi. You need to ask for an extension as soon as possible. LOE should be valid after the BP when you apply for registration. When you request for extension, send them a copy of your letter of offer.

Hi I got my offer letter from IHNA today and now to go forward with the immunisation requirements. I am residing in the UK for the last four years but basically I am an Indian citizen. It should be a nightmare for me to get my vaccination record since childhood and I don't even know if my paediatrician is still available in the same place where I was born. Could anyone please suggest any other alternative for this. I understood that Immunisation clearance is a must for clinical placements. Bit worried now. Thanks

Hi. Its either you get all the vaccines again, or have a serology for each.

I did the same with my doctor placing all my vaccines and when i got them on a vaccination form plus the required serology and ppd test. HepB requires the serology. Ppd for TB. I had to re-do aDPT since the one i got was when i was a baby. I chose to get a booster for MMR instead of 3 separate serology tests for the 3 illnesses. Had these certified and were accepted documents at 2 schools - aaon and acn- which required these to complete an application at their schools. Both schools have a separate immunization record form to fill up.

thank you very much!

This is such a very informative thread. Thank you for this.

hi guys for those who got an offer letter from ACN, how long it took you to get a slot? I mean the processing time of the application?thanks a lot

My application to ACN was completed May 9. Complete meaning ALL their requirements for enrollment. I got my offer letter July 22 for September intake.

I did hear that for some it took longer...around 3-6months
