Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

Published

Good day!

i have received an email from my registration officer and i have some problems with my papers. i hope somebody can enlighten me here.

First:

Identification documentsPlease provide certified copies of identification from categories A - It is not clear whether your passport has been certified by a notary public. Please have your identification documents recertified by a Notary Public

I am pretty sure that the photocopy of my passport was notarized since it's the last document that i attached, should i pass any other document or should i just send another notarized photocopy of it?

Second:

Qualifications

For information on the requirements, please refer to the national Board website: www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au and the Framework for Assessment of Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives

General Nursing

Please note the minimum education requirement of a registered nurse in Australia is a Bachelor degree. A transcript of the theory subject hours and clinical subject hours as well as a record of clinical experience areas is required. In order for an applicant to register as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) in Australia they must demonstrate both theory and clinical hours in the following streams:Medical/Surgical, Adult Nursing, Community Nursing and Mental Health Nursing.

The Board require specific hours undertaken during your degree for the following streams: A breakdown of Hours undertaken in theory for Medical, Surgical, Community and Mental Health Nursing and also the breakdown of hours undertaken in clinical practice for Medical, Surgical, Community and Mental Health Nursing. In the case that you are not able to obtain a transcript of clinical and theory hours undertaken in the above streams, an official letter can be accepted.

Please have your qualification documents re-certified according to the AHPRA requirements.

I sent them the "red-ribboned" copies of my TOR and RLE hours just to make sure that they'll not ask me anything with regards to these documents. what should i send them, a notarized copy of these documents? anything that has something to do with my academic qualifications was included in the mail that i sent them.

Third:

Professional Reference

We require and original or correctly certified copy of a professional reference which attests to your ability to function in the workplace and carry out the tasks that you are required to perform.

All Professional references: Must be from your employer(s) meeting the criteria as outlined below. You are required to provide professional reference(s) from employer(s) with evidence that you meet professional competencies in each position

The professional reference comes from your Nurse/Midwife Manager (who must be a Registered Nurse/Midwife) and must include all the following;

-Experience in the role that they hold e.g clinical, education, research, management

-Describe the practice setting e.g 100 bed surgical ward

-The scope of the role e.g registered nurse, student nurse

-Duties of the role and how you performed those duties

-Level/grade of the position that you hold/held

-Whether you worked in a supervised or unsupervised capacity

-Whether you are/ were employed full time or part time. If you were employed part time the number of hours per week

My reference letter does not have all the above-stated criteria, such as the roles and duties and the supervise stuff. does this mean that i should provide a reference letter from my supervisor that will contain all my clinical skills and my degree of competence in every skill that i possessed?

Lastly, should i notarized my reference letter or the original document that will suffice?

I hope that you can give me answer my queries..i'm doing this without the help of any agent or agency, i'm just depending on what i understand and from your insights in this forum.

Thank you.

Hi,

I had the same problem with the second part. What I did was I contacted my university, showed them the letter from AHPRA and asked them to compute the clinical and theoretical hours for each subject taken from 1st year - 4th year. Then, I requested them to reflect it on my official TOR (I was lucky the registrar agreed and considered it a special case), in my course curriculum and another document detailing the breakdown of all nursing subjects taken with specific no. of hours and and with a total.

for the third problem, those data, i believe are found in certificate of employment. in my case, i asked the hospital to label it as "statement of service". it includes the specified details as above and if i remember it right, I attached also the copy of my job description. My signatories are the Nursing director, the HR head and the hospital administrator. I only submitted a certified copy. (notarized)

the original copies i sent are the application form and CV - with certification from the HR that it is true and correct. The rest of the documents are Certified Copy - Notarized.

for problem number one, i think you should have the document be certified again. make sure that the details are clear, ei. the stamp should be on blank areas of the paper.

these are my thoughts. I hope this can help.

hi chelseaxyrene,

when did you apply at IHNA?

Hi!

Is anyone here already admitted to UNISA this year? How long is the program and how is it different from IRON? How much did you pay for the course fee. Pls contact me. Thanks.

Hello! as long as it says that the course is a bridging program for overseas nurses then they are all the same. you'll get the registration from aphra just the same even if there are differences in duration, costs, course titles, etc... just make sure u enroll yourself to an overseas nurses bridging program approved by aphra.

Thanks chelseaxyrene and beatrix.kiddo for the advice.

Things are much clearer now..thanks a lot

Hi! Has anyone here tried the phone interview by Alpine Health? Please do share. Thanks!

Hi sephine,

How was the interview? I was contacted through cellphone and it was quite hard to hear....She asked me simple nursing questions and I had to ask her to repeat the questions again since it was a dosage calculation...I think...i did poorly since she had to repeat the questions again and again....;-(

Just got my conditional offer from UniSA but I'm leaning towards AAON.

It's been almost 3 weeks since my phone interview with AAON and I made a follow from them 5 days ago but still nothing.

I also tried calling them today like 5 times but was forwarded to the answering machine.

What is the time frame for AAON enrollees here?

I would like to ask a Q: how long does it normally take for registration to come after doing the bridging course? Like for example, getting it done at IHNA? Does anyone have an idea on the time frame? Thank you!

help!! anyone point me to the forum with the filling up of the visa 456 form thak you thank you!!

hi ms sbeatrix! Yes I also had my interview this morning. Same the signal wasn't that good. About the calculations, she repeated the questions twice herself before she waited for my answer. Just hoping I did it right. Do you know what type of visa they require? also, Do you have an idea about the start dates of the course ? ( They will send the outcome maybe next week). God bless to us!

To those who will be doing their bp at ihna... Where will you do your immunization? About the online course how will you get access to it? I already paid for my enrollment fee. Im originally for july intake at perth but requested for the august intake at melbourne and they agreed. Im just worried because i already paid the enrollment fee. Like what will happen to my payment since i am already for a different batch
