don't be. they'd usually ask your knowledge on your scope i.e. ICU, ER. and will ask for common cases and your interventions =) embrace interviews! that's the only time you can stand out from the rest =D goodluck!

hello everyone,

i need some enlightenment right now.

i have received a letter from AHPRA refusing my application for registration as a Registered Nurse. the letter says my qualification from my Nursing school combined with my experience in nursing (i have 9 months full time experience) have been reviewed together and they cannot be considered substantially equivalent, or based on similar competencies, to an approved qualifications.

i had to call AHPRA WA regarding this matter today and the lady that i spoke with told me that i need to have 1 (one) year nursing experience for them to consider my application. then i told her that it was on AHPRA AGOS-40 that they require minimum 3 months full time experience and mine is beyond that (again, 9 months full time). it was clearly written on their website and the last update they have is july 2012, that was even the form i printed, filled up and submitted to them. i also said i know some applicants with just 3 months experience and they got their eligibility letters. then i was advised not to compare myself with other applicants since it's a case to case basis. and all i have to do is write an appeal regarding the board's decision and gave me an email address where i can send that email to (Nov 04 is the deadline). i was just letting her know that i based my application and the requirements that i followed on APHRA website.

the second question i asked was about my nursing school qualification because it was stated on their letter that my school qualification AND my nursing experience were not substantially equivalent. i asked what was wrong with my Nursing qualification and was there any lacking documents or were there any problems. the lady said none at the moment. smh.

it does not make any sense. if AHPRA in general wants a minimum of 1 year experience, they should change what is written on their website. so people like me who's above the minimum requirements according to ther website, but below their so called standard will not waste our money in applying until we complete what is being expected of us. it is clearly a loophole because others can get a pass. i guess it all depends on the state where you passed your application.

your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
