State-specific licensure information is available on the Board of Nursing websites. Look up the requirements for internationally/foreign-educated nurses on the state BON to which you wish to apply.

There is some state that does not require a Philippine license, such as new york state. It really depends on each state's requirements. You might wanna check the state you plan to apply for NCLEX. Good luck! ?

Hi! What state are you applying for? It really depends on the state's BON. Did you contact your state BON and discuss your concerns with them?

I applied for WA State, and they don't require a local license from the Philippines, but I passed our local board six years ago. I know Illinois will require a local license; I don't know about other states. Try to search the website of your prospective BON, and from there, you can contact them or check the requirements they need from an IEN.

New York state does not need a license in the Philippines but they need/require CGFNS.

Yes, what's wrong with the CGFNS evaluation?

I was wondering which US states do not require the CGFNS exam. But Most states require CGFNS; I have no choice. Thank you for answering! I appreciate it ?

Oh you mean the CGFNS exam, I thought it was the evaluation of credentials which is different. WA BON doesn't require the exam, they just need the credential evaluation. If you don't mind, where are you in the US by the way?

I'm from Virginia. But I'm here in the Philippines to apply for NCLEX here. Is it possible that I can apply for NCLEX in WA? Are you a Filipino? Sorry, I need some more info/advice because it's my first time to apply NCLEX. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Of course, are you planning to work or move to WA? Yes, I am; I'll give you the link to their BON's website. I have to warn you that once you submit your application, you have 30 days to comply with all the requirements; I didn't know that because it was not stated in their instructions, I just knew it after I submitted my application, but they were nice enough to consider it. So for that reason, you need to do your CGFNS evaluation and English proficiency exam ahead of time; once you have it then, you go ahead and submit the necessary documents that they need.

You're very welcome! I have to tell you as well that the first time I emailed the BON, I didn't get a quick response from them because I was in Japan at that time, but when I arrived in WA, I gave them a call right away, and they were prompt to answer my concerns about the application.
