International RN Graduates Looking to Fulfill CA BRN Requirements

World Registration

Published

Hello fellow Nurse graduates struggling to get licensed as a RN in California. I have some news. I found a school that could possibly help with our licensing situation in CA. It's Victor Valley College in VictorviIle. I know it's far for most of you but if you really want to stay in Ca and work here's your chance. I have been in contact with the nursing director at VVC. They may have a program for us. It's not for sure yet because they don't have the students (ppl with our situation). If we can get a minimum of 10 ppl they might approve it. I say MIGHT because they're thinking of how much everything will cost. Professors and hospital for clinicals aren't cheap. Reqs in order to be approved are that you need to be deficient in both maternal and advance med-surge. Not just one. If Ca BRN only pointed out one of those two I can't help you. VVC is creating this program based on only those who need both maternal and med surge. Also this program would have to be during the winter and summer. Not spring or fall like most schools. They dont want us to interfere with their nursing program (space/professors). If you are interested please let me know. I will be the one to generate the list to present to the nursing director at VVC. Also if you know anyone else that is looking for a school, please have them contact me. The sooner the list is generated the sooner we can get to the next step in getting this program started.

Hi. I'd like to apply to CA BRN so I'm wondering what exactly their maternal and med surg requirements are? Thank you.

To the OP or anyone else, what's the current status of this situation? Thanks!

Hello. Nothing has been finalized. Right now the director is very busy. It is graduation "season" so everyone is busy. I have been trying to get a hold of the director for the past week. Hopefully he has news for me soon. If you would like to be added to the list/updated on the progress of the program please email me at [email protected] thanks.

So what is the latest piece of information? Yes, no, maybe?

Hi everyone. Sorry for not getting back to you guys. I have some bad news. Unfortunately, the director has not gotten back to me AT ALL. I've called and emailed numerous times with no response. As much as I would love to help you guys by getting this program started it takes more than one person to do it. It has come to the point where I will no longer be putting a list together due to the lack of communication from the school. So many of you have emailed me and I just feel so bad that the program didn't follow through as we all hoped it would. I apologize for the let down. Please do not be discouraged. There are schools that offer the classes you need. You just have to research online and call for more info. Here are some schools that I have looked into:

About the Nursing Program

College of the Desert may have something for those that need OB and possibly psych. Please go to their website and find the application for the completion of BRN reqs as well as call the director of nursing.

Loma Linda University may be able to help you. If you have already completed MS through another school and you just need OB I encourage you to call the associate dean of nursing. They require you to complete MS before taking any other class.

Please continue to call schools and do not give up hope. If you called a school early last year or even earlier call again. Who knows they may have classes available due to the demand for these classes.

I will no longer be using the [email protected] email so please do not email me there anymore. Good luck to everyone.

It's not a let-down at all from you, you tried your best and I'm sure I"m speaking for a few here, that we appreciate your concerned efforts.
