Ok... How about trainings (nurse training in a tertiary hospital), do you have any idea if they consider this as an experience? Thanks.

No I think not. They really prefer paid employment.

I am an currently working in the US. My nurse education was in the UK where I worked as a nurse for 6 years prior to coming to the US - I have been here for 13 years.

My experience is vast 20 years as an RN, 18 of those years primarily in Emergency/Trauma setting - however I have worked occupational health, flight nurse and on a cruise ship for 10 months.

I am a highly skilled nurse and currently studying my RN - BSN - MSN degree.

I would like to work in Singapore. How do I go about doing this?

It seems most advertisements are for Philippine Nationals or Singaporean Residents. Does this mean they do not hire US/UK nurses at all?

I do have 2 passports (Dual Nationality) US and UK .

Can anyone advise?

Thanks so much.

Definitely with your qualifications they will surely accommodate you. Singapore is a multi-racial country so as long as you are qualified you can work here. However I think the wage for nurses here are not as high as compared to US or UK.

Hi,

My sister is a registered nurse in India with specialization in cardio-thoracic nursing. She wants to work in Singapore as RN. Is there any organization or employer who she can contact for help? What are the requirements for the same ? Would greatly appreciate any help.

With Regards,

Amol Kawale

Hi Amol,

For foreign nurses they require at least 3 yrs of working experience in a 200-250 bed capacity hospital. For more infos you can contact the Singapore Nursing Board. http://www.snb.gov.sg.

But just to give you some details, before your sister can register for SNB or become licensed here, she needs to find an employer first. This is a pre-requisite. The board will only allow your sister to sit for the exam if she has an employer. and almost every hospitals here require a nurse to have at least 3 yrs of post registration experience before they can employ you.

If your sister does not have the 3 yrs work experience requirement, she can apply as an Enrolled Nurse provided that she has at least 1 year work experience in a 100 bed capacity hospital. After a year or so, if her performance is good, the hospital can let her sit for the SNB-RN exam (upgrading test) so she can work as a full-fledged RN.

for job opportunities she can google search or go to job search engines online like

https://www.jobstreet.com.sg

https://jobscentral.com.sg

https://www.stjobs.sg

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello Chris,

I am also an RN in the United States and I am about to complete my masters as a family nurse practitioner. I am wondering if you found out any additional information about practicing as a US/UK trained nurse in Singapore, either as an advanced practice nurse or as a staff RN.

Thanks,

Amanda

Hi guys.

I am to sit on the Singapore national board exam, do you have some review materials that I can use? Or a link to that? Please help me. Thanks.

I was only reading Lippincott's pathophysiology book. You will be fine. I find the questions were very easy. It might change now, I sat for the SNB in 1999. Good luck.

Hi. I'm actually new here and just want to know if there are other hospitals who are hiring nurses in Singapore even without experience.

Hello!

My sister just recently went to Singapore & work as a nurse in one of the best hospitals there. We're actually from Cebu. From what I know, She ventured to manila for a few days together with some of her co-workers and personally applied at agencies there. Fortunately she was considered and everything went pretty fast from there. It took around 2-3 months processing.

Specializes in ER.

What is the average salary of nursing there in Singapore?

After reading through this thread. I have a few questions about working in Singapore as a RN. Does the enrolled nurses and needing at least 2 years of work experience counts only for people from Philippines holding a Philippine BSN? I will be graduating from the States with a BSN and taking the NCLEX in May of this year. I am not from USA and may or may not get OPT so I might end up returning to Singapore. Would I have to work as an enrolled nurse then instead of a RN? What is the job situation currently in Singapore?

Hi! Suzanne! This is in fact my very first message here, I have been a long time reader of this forum and I find the thread very informative especially your output and other members too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to us. I may agree with you that there's still quite a number of registered nurses from Philippines who are working in Singapore as Enrolled Nurses (Assistant Nurses) or other lower posts but I must share with you that there are large number of Filipino Nurses who works here as a Registered Nurse too and I am one of them. I'm working in one of the biggest tertiary hospital here and almost 10% of Registered Nurses are Filipinos not to mention other hospitals where I knew some who are Registered Nurses too. Well I might say that it was not easy to be registered to Singapore Nursing Board but at least some of us made it.

Hi spottiswoode,

I am currently doing research on nurse migration for a Japanese university. It is about the multi-step migration of Filipino nurses. I will be in Singapore during the last week of March for my interview/data gathering, and am currently looking for a contact person there. Is it possible to get in touch with you about my research, and possibly get some referrals of other nurses? I am nurse myself who is based in the Philippines. Please message me how I can get in touch with you. Hoping to hear from you. Thanks
