Hi,

I'm Silvia and I'm brazilian.

I finished my college last year in Brazil now I'm a nurse. I really want to get a job as a nurse in US but now I'm working as an au pair in Georgia, If everything works I will finish this program in 10 months and I want to start to work as a nurse.

I just have my brazilian diploma and my "nurse number" I don't know how you call this number here in US.

Someone know what I need to do or look for now that I'm here?

My visa is J-1 (student, just valid for 1 year), someone told me that i can change my visa if I get a job, so I want to know what I need to do.

You would need to contact the Board of Nursing in the state in which you wanted to work. You would have to meet their requirements and then they would allow you to write the NCLEX. If you pass you would be granted a license. To work you would need a Green Card and that takes about 6 years to obtain and you need to find an employer willing to wait that long. The job market is really tough in most areas for new grads.
