I just copy this from another site because it's for every Filipino who wants to work in Singapore hope this helps you!!!...

Filipino Nurses, think about it hundreds of times before you succumb to the temptation of working as a nurse in Singapore. The peope in the agency would have a lot of sweet words and very inviting stories to tell, just so you would sign up and pay them money and you can go to Singapore to cry and regret your decision like what happened to our batch. Nobody told us that we will be working like animals and be treated like maids instead of a nurse.
And its not that easy to upgrade yourselves, like studying to upgrade and all that, you need to get recommendations to go and study to upgrade and you will be banded for years in the hospital ( means you have to work in the hospital for a certain period of time, example 7 years for studying for 2 years to upgrade yourself because they were paying the course for you.) If you decide to study and pay it yourself, good luck with that, it is very expensive to study there and your salary as a nurse is just enough to cover your accommodation cost, food and bus fares. And if it happens that you have a lot of money to shoulder your own cost to study, I doubt it if you have time to go to school or study your homework after work, because you will feel too tired to even eat after the very tiring work.
So, here is my advice. If you really wanna go and work in Singapore because you don't believe me and you think I am just blabbing my mouth, you can go and taste the bitter pill of it yourself. Just make sure that you have enough money brought with you to pay back the hospital if after a week or two, you realized that you went to hell and you want to bail yourself out. Yes, you need to pay the hospital if you resign without finishing your contract of two years. Terrible, isn't it?

This is so true. Even for me a local Singaporean nurse, I can prove her words. It is really sweat and hardwork for peanuts. Maybe to some Pinoys the money is good but the living standard is way too high. It is MF tough working in Singapore unless you work in clinics I guess.

  3. Hi I have 1 year and 7 months experience as a registered nurse here in the Philippines... I'm just wondering what's the process of "Enrolled Nurse" will I complete the remaining 1 yr and 3 months as an enrolled nurse in singapore? or shall I complete the 3 yrs ( enrolled nurse) and take the board exam???
  4. hello im new here.

i hope this helps. i have a 4 and 5 months experience in a 660 bed capacity hospital in cebu city, philippines. i just recently applied as a staff nurse in singapore. what i did was i submitted my credentials in an agency in manila. the qualifications for a staff nurse in singapore are: 3 years experience as a staff nurse in a 200 bed capacity hospital. there's also an age limit. i think the maximum age is 35. all credentials should be photocopied in an A4 size bondpaper and in 2 sets. the agency will actually assist with regards to the requirements for your application.

after sending my credentials the agency contacted me and told me that i have been chosen as a staff nurse applicant in a singaporean hospital. the agency is very strict with the requirements. you have to bring along with you the original copies of your credentials on the day of the interview. before the employer interviews you, your credentials will be checked by the agency and then the singaporean agency as well. after passing the interview, the SINGAPORE NURSE BOARD EXAM follows. in my case, the interview dates was from sept25-27 then the exam was at the 28th.

as of now im just waiting for the results. hopefully i will pass. the results usually come out at 2-3weeks. they actually told us the deployment dates given that we pass the exam and the medical. it will be on january for the first batch and february for the 2nd batch.

just in case you passed the exam, you'll work as what? staff nurse or enrolled nurse? May I just ask why they are not accepting males for the enrolled nurse position? You have any ideas?

i will work as a staff nurse. because i have more than 3 years experience as a staff nurse. during our interview there were applicantss for enrolled nurses too. they also have their separate exam.

there were no male applicants during our time. i have no idea why. i guess the hospital that we were applying for prefers females. i have male co workers in my previous hospital here in cebu city that are now in singapore and working as a staff nurse. im just not sure with enrolled nurses. the best way is to ask agencies. its really better to apply via an agency.

    Goodluck!

you are right. I've heard that enrolled nurses there have less work pressure but they are paid less.

  9. hi there! im new on this thread and i need advice from my fellow nurses.

I am a specialty nurse (cathlab nurse-techinican) in a 150 bed capacity hospital here in the Philippines for 3 years, and when I called up the agency if I can apply as a staff nurse they told me I'm not qualified because the hospital is only 150 bed capacity. I can apply as an enrolled nurse instead.

My question is: can I still take the singaporean board exam even with this situation? I am truly a registered nurse and my work experience in the hospital is valid. or i should apply first as an enrolled nurse then i take the board exam?

thank you so much! your replies will take me one step closer to my path as a nurse abroad.

hello! there is also an exam for enrolled nurses. it's a different exam from the staff nurses but still it's under the SINGAPOREAN BOARD of NURSING.
