HELP: NCLEX-RN Application questions

Hello everyone! Im a RN here in the Philippines. I'm planning to take NCLEX-RN test (state of CA). The thing is, i started my nursing studies in one school until 3rd year and then i transferred school and I eventually graduated from nursing. I passed the local boards. My question is that, Do i send "Request for Transcript" form to both school? or Should I send it to the school where i actually finished BS nursing? And another thing, when will I need the IELTS? is it for the application of an ATT or application for eligibility to take NCLEX? Thank you in advance! :)

Do you have a SSN in the US? If not then you cannot apply to California

Thank you for the response. That's too bad. I don't have SNN since i'm not a US citizen. I thought I could just apply for immigrant later on, in the event of passing the test. And finally apply for SNN so i could get my license to practice. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, my problem actually is the application perse. Please see my question. Thank you again.

Doesn't matter until you have a SSN you can not apply to California. Can't get a US SSN until in the US with a valid work/immigrant visa. You will have to consider another state.

Hopefully your transcripts from second university contains information from first university

Thank you again for the prompt response. I'll take your advise seriously, I think i will consider another state then. I believe my transcripts from second uni has an attached transcript from my 1st college. So that means, i should be sending the "request for transcripts" to the uni where i actually graduated. And if you don't mind again- What do you is the best state to apply for NCLEX? Thank you again! :)

No matter where you apply they will need all transcripts from all schools attended. If you aren't authorized to work in the US the best thing to do is to gain experience where you are at now because there are NO JOBS for new grads who are authorized to work here anyway. The economy is bad.

Even experienced nurses are having a hard time. Good luck.

hi im a registered nurse in the phils I graduated year 2006..Im in US now and I received a letter from CA BRN that i need a complete record of my clinical cases. After submitting my OR/DR cases to the PRC I dont have a copy of it anymore..is there any way that i can recover those documents?

I have no list of states that do not require a US SSN with application I do know that CA and Vermont are 2 of the states. Some states will allow you to apply but will not issue a license without a US SSN

The best answer is what state do you want to work/practice in? Make a list of the top 5, then Google "XX state board of nursing", you will easily see if that state requires a SSN, some states require testing of your knowledge of English also as part of the pre-application process. If you don't qualify or want to go thru all the hassles, then simply scratch that stae off your list and go on to the next feasible one for you.

It doesn't make any sense to apply and get your license in Y state, then try to transfer (endorse) to the your real desired state, say Z state, as then you have to pay more fee$ and maybe take more exam$ to get it endorsed over, just know what exact state you want to work for the next 2-3-5 years or more. You will be wasting months trying to do this moving the license around and no guarantee it will work.

As you cruise thru the various topics in the international forum, you'll find that when the CA BON asks for more missing information or need more information, it's an almost quick denial of the application, I'd say about a 99% of being rejected due to the concurrency issues or lack of clinical hours.

Do you personally know of any batchmates that graduated at the same exact month and year as you? And took the exact same classes as you? And received their ATT recently? This is more important of those batchmates that applied AFTER the April, 2010 deadline! I am referring to those applying after that time stands a very high chance of the application being denied, but did they get their ATT?

Truly, you're better off applying into other states that are for the time being, not being so restrictive about the concurrency issues. There might be other states that are not so restrict about the OR/DR cases, but who knows. Search in the recent threads here and you'll find what other 12 states, besides CA is enforcing this decades old regulation (as far as the concurrency) and to avoid applying and wasting hundreds of dollars and months, if not close to a year, waiting for an answer.
