filipino nurse from Middle east moving to california

World Registration

Hi to all,

I am registered nurse in the philippines since 2010 and currently working as a nurse under ministry of health. i married an american and now have my greencard. i will be going to the US, specifically in Ca but it seem almost impossible to pass all the requirements for the NCLEX. i have worked 3 years in the pihlippines and 3 years in Oman. I have most of my papers but do not have my clinical cases copy from my school. it is not realistic to move from california because of my husbands work.

I am wondering several things.

Is it possible to go back to the philippines and fullfill the required missing requirements?

What are nurses doing for work if they can not get certified?

Are you guys (you and your husband) settling in California for good? That is the first question that you want to ask for yourself too. I mean, you might've already heard about the current "concurrency issue" that California is implementing for some international educated nurses. The only way you will determine whether you're required to take up courses is to apply to the Board of Registered Nursing. I guess it's an implied requirement already since you mentioned you graduated in 2010. However, there are some who aren't required. It depends upon the analyst. If you want to challenge the NCLEX-PN through BVNPT (Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians), you can apply too if you want to be a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for the meantime. You can apply both if you want to. I mean, you will know how it is going for you just by applying first. By all means, you already have your green card for legality. Just apply.
