Denied by CABON now to take LVN..

World Registration

Can anyone help me here, I'm planning to take the LVN exam because I just got denied by CABON because of the concurrency issue..I just want to know:

Method #3 - Equivalent Education and/or Experience(the PHARMACOLOGY course)Do I need to submit it also? and how? or I just need to submit only the

Method #2 - Graduates of an Out-of-State School of Practical/Vocational Nursing.

BTW, I'm an international graduate, Registered Nurse from the Philippines but I can't sit for the NCLEX-RN exam that is why I decided to take this one. Hope someone can answer my question thank you.

I overheard a conversation from one of our clients at work that his son's dean at their school went to CA bon and provided their program which was approved by the state board (sorry its not my intention to eavesdrop but the info was beneficial). If CHED refuse to consult the board, I believe the dean of the schools can take the initiative to correct their program that fits foreign board's standard.

This is what I was saying earlier in another thread, CHED plans to change the curriculum to "meet the State's BON minimum educational requirements" by changing to having only 3 cases etal versus the 5 cases etc. in the near future, last rumours I heard was implementation by year 2016. Maybe they are already experimenting in some PH schools.

Like I said, if CHED thinks this will "work" to satisfy the State's BON, especially CA's tougest requirements, they better have used and hired CA professional experts and are well knowledged and legal experts in the CA BON educational policies OR guess what?

Yep, the newer and future PH students may have passed the concurrency rules, BUT will be getting DENIED due to the lack of sufficient clinical or theory hours.

If CHED is trying to do this on their own without professional assistance from people from the States, God help the future students.

I think, it's been changed and implemented since 2008. The new curriculum including the 3 cases per major & minor surgeries and delivery. Batch 2012 shouldn't have any concurrency issues but I've known a lot who still didn't get eligibility and there are few who made it through and was able to take the NCLEX. It's case to cases basis.

Yes, that's why I'm wondering if the 3 cases upgrade now is being more looked at by the LVN board in terms of the hours.

Like you, I know several 2012 batches and recently denied the ATT and there's been a couple of who actually made it (CA BON for NCLEX-RN) from the same class, same batchmates. Inconsistent, yes, not sure if it was a difference in CA evaluator or in their transcripts. However the overall approval rate is still very slim at best.

This is interesting, thanks! I thought that a CA BON staffer would have to actually go overseas to verify such matters?

So was the son able to get this ATT in CA? He must have been a graduate of one of the top 10 schools in PH.

If it's this easy, then the tremendous amount of pressure should be placed by ALL the PH students in CA and those wanting to come over, to make each and every Dean of their schools come to provide the CA BON they are in compliance with the US requirements and present their case in front of the CA board.

This will stop the need to become an LVN, then try to enroll in a LVN-RN courses, then try the NCLEX-RN and stop wasting more time as jobs are getting tougher and tougher as the length from graduation date to application time that our application gets sent to "not interested" pile if one wants to work in a hospital setting.

I heard the son is still in pi studying. From what I remember the school is affiliated or near St lukes hopital. I'm sorry if only I wasnt on the phone that time I could have ask the father for the details.

No, not a problem, at least this Dean is willing to take the necessary steps to ensure that his students should be safe and able to meet the CA BON requirements.

Now let's hope he not only got that in writing from the CA BON main office directly or else, each evaluator will draw their conclusions and it could cause some to get their ATT and others to be denied.

The other Deans from all the PH schools needs to take this pre-cautionary measures as this Dean did.

Please let us know whoever gets their ATT for NCLEX PN. thanks! Now I'm worried about my application. maybe BVNPT is getting stricter same as NCLEX RN?? hope not!

They're not kabayan. It was the school's fault to put an incomplete theory hours on Jaycee's record of nursing program.

Really? lacking 100 hours? for RLE? I mean, in our Philippine nursing program, we at least should have more than that of what's stated in the BVNPT requirements. It's kinda frustrating to know that. :( I hope your school will provide information to get you your eligibility from BVNPT. God Bless.
Yeah i hope so! Im going back to p.i this 27th of january to talk to our dean personally tsktsk waste of money and time smh.
On another note: hoping it's just an error in your school's reporting. But do you know of any other batchmates that got their ATT and you guys were all from the same exact graduating class? If they got their approval, then so you should have also.
Not that i know of. Smh yeah its my school's fault lol

I think BVNPT's still processing the applications, same thing as last year's. I got my eligibility and luckily passed my NCLEX-PN. Also @dragon_lady passed the exam as well. We're now LVN's. I think you shouldn't be worried :) You'll surely get your eligibility soon :) In my case, BVNPT sent me a form called DECLARATION OF NURSING EDUCATION wherein I put all the dates of my RLE rotations. After that, I got my eligibility. Think positive! You'll get that eligibility 'cause you deserve it though it's pretty tough to stand up from the CA-BON aftermath. I was really frustrated before when I was denied by CA-BON in 2011.
