Can anyone HELP ME !!!

World Registration

Published

Hi there

New to the site today. I am English nurse currently working in Ireland and want to move to USA. We would live anywhere .... my partner is endoscopy tech but has no degree. Fingers crossed we will have little one joining us but just 11 weeks so far in my pregnancy.

Have been looking at the visa craic and its all so confusing. I lived and worked in Australia for nearly 6 years. The visa and job system was so straight forward compared to this process.

I have studied for the NCLEX before as I joined OGrady Peyton in 2004 but my father took ill and hence my return to Ireland. Can see where I can sit exam in Ireland.

Does anyone know how I can get sponsorship ? Is this possible ?

Thanks for you help. I am post call in theatre and my head is fried !!!!! We want a life change A.S.A.P !!!!! Thanks for reading xx

Starting point would be meeting state requirements and passing NCLEX. Then you need to look at getting married as partner will not get a work/immigrant visa without marriage.

Once you have met state requirements and passed NCLEX you could look at either applying to hospitals in the area you wish to live and work or approach agencies and see what you can come up with. At least retrogression isn't as long for people born in the UK or Ireland so only looking for 1-3 year wait once you find a employer willing to sponsor you

Thanks so much. That is great news. I thought I would be waiting years to achieve my dream. Can you be engaged and go on a visa. Irish weddings are so expensive.....and a waste of money !!! May run away in secret yet. I will look at places to live and work. After living in Australia the weather aspect for me would have to be hot and sunny. Can you get registration in any state and apply for job in another state and re register ? I did hear once that some states are easier to register in than others. Thanks again for your help !!

Most states require similar things like Paeds, Adult, Mental Health and Obstetrics on your transcripts. Some states require a US SSN and some don't. You can only get a US SSN when in the US on a valid work/immigrant visa. No engaged will be enough for a visa you must be married.

You need to select which state you wish to move to and check out their website. Links to state BON websites can be found at the bottom of the page

I know that I have a full transcript that has all my hours on for those specialties. I will email a few places and find out what is the go. What is US SSN? I cant thank you enough for your help. Its been most informative.

My only suggestion is that some US states license only for that state. Some US states you get licensed for several states. Applying for licensure does involve fees sometimes pictures sometimes fingerprinting. Each state has its own requirements. Australia has several climates. If you want hot and dry look at southwestern US. If you want hot and humid look at southeastern US. The southern states generally have the lowest cost of living but also lower salaries. You will find the highest salaries in California and northeastern states. Sorry I know nothing ahout Visas or sponsership.

All citizens must have a social security number which you get from the government. The gov takes taxes out of your pay then when you retire they give your money back. (Hopefully).

The multi state license only works if you are a legal resident of a compact state.

It may be challenging to find an employer to sponsor you, American nursing schools are currently producing more grads than ever before and some of the grads are having a hard time finding work. Also, due to the economy, late career nurses are not able to take early retirement. These are just two reasons that the predicted shortage of nurses hasn't happened yet and may not happen for another ten or more years.
