Call Mount St. Mary in Los Angeles and ask to be in the wait list, but THE LIST IS 3 YEARS LONG! SERIOUSLY! This is the ONLY school that is accredited by CA BRN and accepts IEN with MS/OB defieciencies.
seriously? but we are only given 3 years to complete the deficiency of concurrency issue. if not our paperworks will be thrown away...

Not totally surprised, as the open slots at any college was limited to 1-2 openings at best. I know SFSU had over 800 foreign students last year, not confirmed but one batchmate told me, it was a student from Russia that got one spot, but not sure if it was a psych class versus MS/OB.

Until the state of CA can get more money to open up more special classes, then things might look up, but the state is broke and budget ctubacks everywhere. To add to this problem, there's not enough clinical hospitals AND a qualified perceptor nurse to assist each nursing student. They are already filled to the top with just their regular enrolled students and those times and spaces will not be given away to students not paying the regular tuition. We just have to wait in line (with a few thousand other international students from all over).

For the above reasons is why the other schools are unable to accomodate the foreign students at this present time.

Btw, MSMC is not the only school with the MS/OB, there's plenty of others (available from the CA BRN site) Here's a copy of Pierce College special form and you'll find other schools have similar forms, but if it's offered (you need to really dig in and sometimes walk-in, as it's too easy to use the phone call to say, "we're full, we don't offer", etc), my batchmate tried but was already filled early last year.....only one opening and mentioned was on a list.

    Here's that link: http://www.piercecollege.edu/departm...ent Policy.pdf

You will notice in Pierce's case they just revised the form in late, 2011 about the same time the CA BRN was rejecting the PH BSN'ers.
anybody here already started ms ob class?

Good luck! I know after I posted the Pierce College link (above), many have also applied. Did you ask how many open spots are there? That will be the big question along with how many applicants.

Last time, my batchfriend's friend and all got turned down (lack of space) was the reply.

Yep, that's the case everywhere. There's no obligations of any kind from any of the CA schools as their primary focus is to serve their own existing students who have enrolled in their programs. If it happens it happens, if not, then it wasn't meant to be.

With the already high unemployment rate of CA new grads, these schools don't want to look bad by making any outsiders get the job that all their students are competing for. We should be glad that they even consider trying to help us out.

This company has been discussed before. Wow, she used to charge from $5,000-6,000 last year (as checked with a batchmate, but was too $$ even then) and now she's taking advantage of the situation.

BUT the issue at hand is that this "school" is NOT approved by the CA BON and clearly still not on the approval list, so proceed with caution. She claims to work with a SF university and does the clinical part with them?

I would make sure with the CA BON if getting whatever proof is provided will meet the CA BON requirements or you're better off taking the money to Vegas and winning the jackpot. It's not up to this school to give you the ATT, it's the only decision by the CA BON to grant it.

Maybe you can explain it what she told you, as even my batchmate found her "reasonings" very suspect.

Nope. Even if it was free or $1,000 or whatever, it's not an approved CA BON school, so it's a total waste of money and time. I'm sure there are plenty of foreign students who have taken the class, but maybe too embarrassed if the CA BON still denied their application after spending all that money.

By this school, getting the bulk of the money up-front and if the student later cannot pay the balance, it really doesn't matter to her, she's got the most out at the beginning. It's really up to the individual to make sure they know what they are getting into.

I heard that there are some "schools" trying to start up in the Los Angeles area, but again, unless they are approved and on the CA BON list it's not worth doing it.

Maybe by now, this school (***) is approved by the CA BON, I don't know, try writing to the BON instead.
