CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Too bad for us Filipino nurses, got the same dilemma here., just got the BRN letter last month - I have to take MS, OB & Psych. If only CA BRN could provide us schools to complete our deficiencies. It's really hard to get in a college or university here in CA. Any body residing here in San Diego who completed already or still on the process of completion of their deficiencies? Is it smart move if I'm gonna take RN program, anyway I passed already my nCLEX RN before coz it's still valid? Any advise from you guys is really appreciated.Thank you.

Huh, wait? I'm confused? You got denied recently, but yet, you already passed the NCLEX-RN? Please clarify your comments, thanks.

There's a few other topics covering the CA schools that offers the deficient courses, but near impossible to get into, other than what some have done from this thread: https://allnurses.com/world-nursing/received-att-california-832461.html

I passed NCLEX-RN last 2009 but didn't have SSN before( At that time BRN was not that strict yet) .I didn't catch up the 3 year period given to me by the BRN, so it's already expired by the time I have my SSN. BRN told me to apply again because my file was destroyed already, and the exam is still valid so there's no need to take exam. That's why I applied but it happened that they are so much strict now.

Congrats on passing the NCLEX-RN exam, you should be fine and yes the CA BON tells you to apply by examination and they just need you to submit the SSN to them and you'll be fine. There's been a few postings here of others in your situation and all have gotten their RN license without any problems.

UNLESS.....the CA BON are deciding to re-exam even those passing the NCLEX for the same concurrency issues that's been affecting many of the more recent applicants. There has been word that they were going to look into those graduating from the year 2004 onwards and would even affect

those nurses already employed in CA. We'll see.....

Best to ask your school on their success stories of others in getting thru the CA BRN tough requirements, short of that being you just graduated, simply apply into the CA system, just know unless you're more than 100% certain that ALL your curriculums was conducted with both the clinical and theory sections in the exact same semester, not months or years apart, you're part ways there.

Just know whether you are approved or denied by the CA BON, any and all fees sent are not going to be returned.

Make sure that you already have a valid S/S number, a MUST requirement or the application will be rejected, not sure if it's rejected due to not having a S/S number, if they will return your monies back.

Make sure that all your curriculums with the clinicals and theory sections were done in the same exact semester, not months or year or two later, if not, it will be an instant rejection. But seeing you're a 2013 grad, maybe your school was in full compliance with the CA BON minimum requirements.

Suggest you take the time to read thru all the threads pertaining to PH grads and nurses, only a handful have been approved since Nov. 2011.

I'm also preparing for my TOEFL and NCLEX here in Wa and recently learned the concurrency issue. My heart's beating fast right now.Had the same problem with Cali that's why I decided to pursue my NCLEX here.Have you had any luck on your ATT hun?Thank you and Godbless.Hope to hear from you soon

tor, rle, educational breakdown, clnical rotation sched, reg forms, class sched, rle logbook, academic calendar, clinical cases and my passport. thats why im expecting for the worst! ahahaha im waiting for my lvn eligibility and also i decided to apply nclex in HI.

I haven't sent my CA application in yet but are these things something I can send now ahead of time myself? or do they need to be sent from the school?

Also, what exactly is in the clinical rotation schedule, registration form, class chedule, and rle logbook? Would not a summary of RLE, a copy of my cases, the syllabi, and school BSN curriculum suffice? Thank you! :)

If the dates of your clinical cases aren't concurrent to your theoretical class dates. I suggest you pull out your application from cali.

This is from me and my other friends experience. It's a total waste of time to force yourself in cali unless you're willing to some classes.
