CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Hi guys, Im a batch 2008 and was also required to pass my prc cases. I asked PRC if they still have a copy of my cases, im December 08 board taker and they told me that the retention period of cases is only 2 years so prolly they don't have it then i asked my school and they told me they dont have a copy too. i have my own copy but my school and prc is giving me a hard time of certifying it. They're pointing each other!! prc told me it should be the school to certify it because our cases is only a requirement to take the board exam, and it is part of our RLE whereas my school told me that they dont have the original copy because we passed it to PRC that's why it should be the PRC. guys, who certify your cases? is it the prc or your school? im really stressed with what's going on.

any replies would be greatly appreciated. ;)

In the first place your school should have a copy of it..ibut if theyre saying they didnt have any,I suggest give your copy to them and let them certify your cases..It should be them and not PRC...and kabayan may I ask from what school are you?

I called several schools today, I'm opting to finish the course work in the Philippines in the same school I graduated in.

It is not advised that you complete the coursework in the Philippines, as there is no guarantee that the theory/clinicals would be done concurrently.

It is suggested that you complete the 2 courses in California, or another out-of-state nursing school.

Some schools you may want to contact include CSU Chico, Mt. San Antonio College, National University San Diego, Chabot College, East Los Angeles College, Dominican University, and Modesto Community College.

Thank you,

Email I got from BON about my inquiries, although do you guys think its wise to finish the course work in the philippines?

Good question, I think that you must have NOT yet graduated if you are able to enroll in the affected courses in the Phils. If you did graduate already, then you have to take the courses in CA or whatever other concurrent required States you apply to.It does seem kind of ironic: you can't take the affected courses in the Phils after you graduate, but you can take the same courses in the States, I think in a way, there's more known facts about taking the courses in CA versus taking it in Phils since there's always the possibility of those trying to submit RECTO documents, it's a matter of better control of the documentation.

I'm planning to take it in the same school I graduated in. I'm already a graduate and I asked this since the wait list here in CA is too damn long. 2 Years in National University which is the closest to where I'm at. It's a hassle to get new documents from my school since we moved in USA and no one can request the said documents if I was to apply as an LVN. So in any case I'm opting to just take it in the Philippines, the issue is whether the documents I'd be getting is concurrent or not. In other words the cases needs to be concurrent with whatever theory I'm learning ._.

hello

The BoN was asking me for a RLE summary what does that mean? Please response

Hi Kkimmy08

RLE Summary, i think, refers to the schedule of clinical rotation during your nursing education. Would you mind if you type the exact requirements per se on th letter, because as you read the thread all of the previous post was about the RLE cases which pertains to the clinical cases during RLE, it could also be that, but I may help you if you post the exact word requirement from the letter...

I think Summary of RLE contains all the units and hours of our clinicals from Primary health care 2-NCM 105.and in our school it has all the signatures of the chief nurses in all our affiliated hospitals.

Uh, yes I remember that, I think Kkimmy08 was referring to the summary of RLE that you are describing. You can ask your school, I quite sure that they can issue one since it was also a prerequisite to local nursing licensure exam. Goodluck

Hi nerie018 It should be your school that certify your cases, since in the first place, they were the one who gave you clinical duties where you get such. You should proceed asking the deans office about the problem, there is probably orientation lapses for the registrar part.

Hi nomad29,

Thank you for your response. They ask me for my "record of Related Learning Experience ( Transcript was recieved, however rle was not attached)" What does that mean?
