CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Hello! You need to shell out about $3609 + books, etc per class. You can't take both (MS & OB) classes at the same time. Do you have family who can help out?

Full tuition paid in full on the first day of class. Only full time students enrolled in the program are eligible to apply for financial assistance.

YIKES! Ahh, okay, only full timers are able to get some money help. No, I don't have any family members or friends to help me out at this time, unless we sell a few village cows, lol. Do you think the school will trade for them :clown:

What if you're already a Legal Resident or US Citizen would they still provide financial aid at least.

Hello Rhansantiago84. Yes, you can. Try Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid. If you don't have a job (requirement to pay minimum mothly dues), you can ask a family member or close friends to co-sign for you.

Hello Nurses!

My husband (Batch 2012) just received a letter from CA BRN that he is deficient in MS and OB theory and clinicals. We then exhausted our time this week to look for schools near Los Angeles which will allow him to take these classes. And so far, National University offers these classes but there are already 10 foreign graduates in the waiting list. My husband's on the 11th slot. The good thing is their classes are on a monthly basis. It means you don't have to wait another semester to take MS or OB whichever comes first to enroll it. Problem is, NAtional University only takes 1-2 persons from the wait list per year. However, it was mentioned to us when we spoke to ****, Admissions Advisor that the the class usually takes 20 students maximum. Maybe, if the wait list comes to 20 then we then can request from National University to create a separate class. I am most willing to help since I am very aware of this concurrency problem affecting the foreign graduate nurses nowadays.

FYI, MS theory and clinical take 2 months to complete. Same with OB. Cost $1467 for theory and $1467 + $675 for clinical. About $326/unit. Roughly, you need about $7218. Just be guided.

To be included in the wait list, email a copy of the letter from the CA BRN of your deficiency to:

Hi jenkits! Thanks so much! This is very helpful! My concern is though in my letter from CA BRN, they mentioned my OB and Med-surgical cases weren't concurrent but it never specified the subjects I would need to take. It just said to enroll in any accredited nursing program in CA.. and it is up to the school's nursing director to give credit to my previous subjects. I know some have similar letters to mine.. while others have the subjects specified in theirs. Some I believe spoke with their analyst and it was the analyst that informed them of just needing to take the OB and Med-surg courses.. I'm hoping I can just take these 2 subjects even though my letter was very generalized. May I know what was said in your husband's letter from the CA BRN? Were you able to talk to his analyst?

Hello jinxedminx. This is page 1 of my husband letter from CA BRN. It is specified that he is deficient in Ms and OB.

Hello Jinxedminx. I suggest you call your analyst if your letter does not specify the deficient classes.

I think the only qualified for the full coverage is the one who doesn't have any associate or bachelors degree? My friend applied for financial aid but they found out she has a degree,so her full coverage was cancelled. But since she is a low income and single parent, her tuition has been waived but not all the expenses.

My friend checked into that too, but I think because National University is considered a private school, a for-profit college, it is different than getting the tuition waived at the "regular" kind of CA schools, like the Cal State's or University of XX city or local community colleges, but I could be wrong, just check with the school's financial aid dept.

how will u be able to call your analyst?

Sounds legit, but already 10 in the waiting list and they only take 1-2 foreign grads when the program starts. So does that mean he may be waiting 4-5 years? It would be great if the school can open another class. Better yet a bridging program for applicants with the same situation. I doubt they'll make a bridge though. Hope you guys get in!

Just send them all of the requirements they are asking you to submit. If they need more requirements they will mail you. They won't exactly say that you've completed all the requirements. It's a matter of waiting for either the good news or bad news.

kuyaF, when they asked for additional requirements like our cases did they mentioned that this will "COMPLETE" your application or they just said that submit the following requirements. this is because i received letter from BON they already received my cord,major/minor and now they are requiring me to send my "deliveries" to "complete" the application. is this the same letter as anyone in here had and still got denied by them? even though they mentioned " to complete your application"? btw thats the only one they required me to send. plus as far as i know my cord cases are not the same time as my theory in ob. thanks.
