CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

when they asked for the additional requirements like your cases, did they tell you that this will "complete"'your application?

They will not exactly tell you that. they will give a checklist. that you must pass this requirements in order to process your application. example: you must send your cases. Then wait for the big surprise. if you know what I mean.

kuyaF, when they asked for additional requirements like our cases did they mentioned that this will "COMPLETE" your application or they just said that submit the following requirements. this is because i received letter from BON they already received my cord,major/minor and now they are requiring me to send my "deliveries" to "complete" the application. is this the same letter as anyone in here had and still got denied by them? even though they mentioned " to complete your application"? btw thats the only one they required me to send. plus as far as i know my cord cases are not the same time as my theory in ob. thanks.

. actually it says on the letter "TO complete your application". so this is giving me hope. but i wanted to know if all of you got the same letter ams mine stating "TO complete" amd still nothing happens.

Just send the requirements. We all got the same letter. some required to pass their curriculum vitae. But actually the most common requirement that they will ask you is our cases. so that they will evaluate if your theory is concurrent to your cases. if you said your cases weren't concurrent. hopefully they will not notice

Hello Nurses!

My husband (Batch 2012) just received a letter from CA BRN that he is deficient in MS and OB theory and clinicals. We then exhausted our time this week to look for schools near Los Angeles which will allow him to take these classes. And so far, National University offers these classes but there are already 10 foreign graduates in the waiting list. My husband's on the 11th slot. The good thing is their classes are on a monthly basis. It means you don't have to wait another semester to take MS or OB whichever comes first to enroll it. Problem is, NAtional University only takes 1-2 persons from the wait list per year. However, it was mentioned to us when we spoke to *****, Admissions Advisor that the the class usually takes 20 students maximum. Maybe, if the wait list comes to 20 then we then can request from National University to create a separate class. I am most willing to help since I am very aware of this concurrency problem affecting the foreign graduate nurses nowadays.

FYI, MS theory and clinical take 2 months to complete. Same with OB. Cost $1467 for theory and $1467 + $675 for clinical. About $326/unit. Roughly, you need about $7218. Just be guided.

To be included in the wait list, email a copy of the letter from the CA BRN of your deficiency to:

Enrollment Counselor

Los Angeles Nursing Department

National University

5245 Pacific Concourse Dr.

Los Angeles, CA 90045

(310) 662-2044

If you plan to visit the campus, you can ask for:

Admissions Director

Good luck to all you.

Yes, thank you! My friend also found about this school, but the thing was when she inquired last year, they wanted the full tuition to be paid up-front. They would take a certain portion to start but will need the entire balance shortly to be paid off in full.

The problem is that if you're an international student, there was no financial aid assistance. Do you know if that has changed so that foreign students can get some loans?

reply:

thank you for posting this. lucky you that you have found a school that will accept the deficiencies. but they offer limited slots. plus the fees per unit is very expensive. I can't afford that :(

for now I will take the LVN.

Plus don't forget to add some extra $$$ for books and supplies (if needed).

reply:

you're right steppybay. if I'm rich I will enroll in that school.haha. but I'm not. If you try to loan. you will be in dept through the rest of you life. lucky are those who can afford.

Full tuition paid in full on the first day of class. Only full time students enrolled in the program are eligible to apply for financial assistance.
