i also received the same response recently from the ca nursing board. i arrived in usa about a year ago and have applied for the rn licensing exam.

i have been waiting to hear regarding my examination for some time. i applied june last year and immediately i received so many requests for information from my school. i provided everything but did not hear anything until i called the nursing board in sacramento and spoke with a licensing analyst, who told me that my application was denied and that she will send me a copy of the denial via email.

i received a copy of denial of my application via email on december 2011 after my phone call and it indicated that my application was denied due to the following reason:

"the board of registered nursing has completed an evaluation of your application. based on the documents that were submitted, it has been determined that the program you completed in the philippines does not meet the requirements for licensure as a registered nurse in california.
california code of regulations section 1426(d) states that theory and clinical practice shall be concurrent and based on the information submitted, this requirement was not met. when we reviewed the clinical cases your scrubs were not taken concurrently with theory instruction and the did not follow the related learning summary from school. your theory and scrubs should have been completed in ncm 201 and 202 but were done in ncm 203, 204 and some in 205.

b & p code section 2736 outlines the general qualifications for applicants who apply to the board for licensure and who have received their training from a school in another country.

the courses of instruction from a school of nursing in another country, in the opinion of the board must meet or be equivalent to the courses of instruction in nursing from a california school."

the licensing analyst i spoke to also told me that "filipinos are greedy" and just want to make lots of money (something to that effect).

i believe something is happening here that is more than meets our consciousness...is discrimination at work here?????

i thought the denial reason the board provided was unique to my case, but seeing your posting here made me more weary as the board appears to be collectively discriminating nurses who went to school in the philippines.

is there something we could do regarding this???????
if the b & p code section 2736 is their basis of denying our application, i wonder why other applicants from the philippines who went through the same curriculum like ours were made eligible.

winren, can i have your email add? i cannot send pm just yet.
