Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Hi rsa_0513! I've been reading this thread. I was just wondering if you were able to get an extension of validity of your LOE from AHPRA WA? If yes, how many months did they give you? Thanks.

Hi there Ely_ana,

Did you request for extension of your LOE from AHPRA WA? I just did and was granted 3 months extension. What I did was I explained to them my situation and forwarded to them my Offer Letter. I am for May intake at Mercy Health and the course end date is 28 July. My LOE was only valid until 16 July. After 1 week, they sent me my extended LOE. AHPRA WA is very considerate for as long as you explain to them properly the situation. I wish you the best.

Hi there,

I just would like to ask anyone here how long does AHPRA South Australia do the Assessment Process for eligibility? How many months?

Thanks for that info ms. lani_g. Did you do this thru their "web enquiry" or did you just send an email directly to your case officer?

Hi Ely_ana,

I directly emailed my case officer, the one who sent my first LOE.

just had my interview from aaon....so so so nervous.. i guess i did better during my interview at alpine health/ lonsdale. wish me luck!

Hi Ely_ana,

I directly emailed my case officer, the one who sent my first LOE.

Ok noted. Thanks ms. lani_g. God bless.

hi kharineh,

IHNA requires at least 2 yrs of experience although I think they still accept students without 2 yrs as long as they pass the interview..

Hi mapie87. I was wondering if you knew personally somebody who was able to get in IHNA without the 2 year experience? I also have the same dilemma. I want to apply there but I only have one year and 8 months experience. Perhaps, they were able to accommodate applicants without the 2 year experience a few years back? Do you know of anybody who was able to skip that requirement recently? Thanks.

Hi ms. lani_g,

Just wanted to ask if your AHPRA LOE also stated in the last paragraph this:

"If we have not been notified that you have completed a course by , your application will be deemed to have been withdrawn pursuant to section 80(5) of the National Law. Please be aware extensions beyond this date will not be granted."

I read in previous threads (p. 21 of Meeting AHPRA requirements as an Intl Nurse in the Phils) that the LOE previously stated "if we have not been notified that you have commenced a course by 08/03/2013, your application will expire and become void and your incomplete application will be destroyed. extensions beyond this date will not be granted."

Just wanted to clarify if your LOE is like mine or like the previous thread? Thanks so much.

Hi ELy_ana,

My LOE is the same as yours. The first one that you wrote. But if you will request for an extension, it will be considered provided that you give them an explanation of your status. I already had an offer letter from a school when I requested for an extension because the end course date is 12 days beyond my original expiry date of the AHPRA letter. But if you don't have an offer letter from a school yet, I think they will not give you any extensions for that matter.

That's really great mapie87! Do you have other work experiences besides the 1 year hosp experience (and did they ask for it?) Or are you a fresh grad/first courser and this was your first job? You see, I'm a second courser and my other work experience was not even related to nursing. Thanks.

Thanks so much for that info ms. lani_g. It's very helpful. I'm a little relieved in knowing that. God bless.
