Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Then you indeed, have more money than most I know in Australia. None of us could afford to be unwell for ANY period of time without medicare benefits.

All medical expenses are again more again expensive to non citizens.

I have nursed people from overseas in predicaments due to thinking they did not need any health insurance (young and were Christian) and ended up in hospital with debts of 20-100,000 au for the hospital, then the ambulance service and airline wanted large amounts of money to ship them home after the acute stage.

Just not worth the risk, if one can pay for it outright if it happens then 80au a month is nothing.

Are they also nurses who did the bridging without the insurance?

No, I suppose they were not, but I did not think, being an overseas nurse applicant completing a bridging program would exempt one from becoming ill or being in an accident. Thats why the schools (if to abide by accreditation rules) are supposed to make sure each student has travel insurance.

ah ok, yes the school sent me pdf guide on how to apply online. Thank you for this information :)

Me too!! I also followed up my application after reading the threads here....then when I got home...saw their reply. I'm for June also. Sephine, do you plan to take it? May I know your email address?

Hi Sephine,

I just emailed the principal today. No reply yet coz it's Sunday. Hopefully by tomorrow, I'll get an update. I will get the decision from Mercy Health tomorrow. I hope it's a positive one. I just feel hopeless now. You said your agency will be the one to settle everything. Is your agency Philman?

Yeah even without it yet. But you must purchase one after if you'll be going to IHNA especially in Melbourne. I purchased just the basic one that's $36 per month.

What is the name of the insurance company that you applied with?

Hi lani_g, I might accept Alpine health's offer...but i am waiting for castlemaine health. I am giving myself 2 weeks to decide. I have asked some people regarding the accommodation..and my cousin and a friend is saying 5500 aud is quite expensive for an accomodation with transportation. most of them survived australia for 3 months for only 3 to 4k aud. I might not avail it. but iam also awaiting for alpine's response to my question as to where they will give the accommodation...meaning, how far is it exactly, inclusions and etc..
